About this listen

The sergeant took some from each box and spread them around the floor so they could all see. Dozens upon dozens of them. DI Rachel Narey’s guess was that there were a few hundred in all.

Photographs.

Many of them were in crowd scenes, some just sitting on a park bench or walking a dog or waiting for a bus or working in shops. They seemed to have no idea they’d been photographed.

All women. All attractive. All between their late teens and early thirties.
Hundreds of them.

A dawn raid on the home of a suspected rapist leads to a chilling discovery, a disturbing collection hidden under floorboards. Narey is terrified at the potential scale of what they’ve found and of what brutalities it may signal.
When the photographs are ruled inadmissible as evidence and the man walks free from court, Narey knows she’s let down the victim she’d promised to protect and a monster is back on the streets.
Tony Winter’s young family is under threat from internet trolls and he is determined to protect them whatever the cost. He and Narey are in a race against time to find the unknown victims of the photographer’s lens – before he strikes again.

I enjoyed the plot in particular, but the performance was also excellent. I will be keeping an eye out for this author

One of the best this year

I listen to between 5 and 7 books a week, I have a lot of time on my hands, and this is the best this year. There were plenty of twists in the plot, and lots of action. The characters are all believable, and necessary to the story. A Masterpiece!

I am sure to read more from this author. Brilliantly narrated.

ONE OF THE BEST OF ITS KIND

I just couldn't stop listening to this excellent thriller/police story. The characters are well defined and the topic is very relevant. It held my interest all the way and I am going to have some problems finding another to replace it. Frankly, if there were 6 stars I would give it just that. All the ingredients were there:- a good story, tension, a realistic look at violence against women and a lively pace. Thanks Craig Robertson.

Interesting premise but stretches credulity

I’m a big fan of Craig Robertson books; gritty, realistic and plausible. This audio version is narrated by David Monteith; impeccable delivery and very comfortable to listen to. But I think I’m suffering from preconditioned hearing. He also narrates the Denzil Meyrick series and I’ve listened to all 10 on Audible. I had to forget his character voices from that series and remember this is a different book.

This is a complex story, well plotted with twists along the way. The final chapters are the best where the unexpected happens once, then again and again. I like the central characters but was slightly irritated by the cosy domestic scenes which Prather than adding to the plot, I found a distraction.

There’s a strong sense of place and I could visualise many of the settings. Not entirely convinced the motivation for the killings was quite right, but overall, the pacing, plot and dialogue hold together well. I enjoyed it.

great listen.

it was a great and in-depth veiw on Glasgow. even down to the slang and short hand that most glasweigins use, this is main reason I decided to listen was to hear about a city I know well and enjoyed it greatly. wish the other titles by this author were available!

Gripping until the end!

I couldn’t stop listening to this book. There were lots of twists and turns, and the author made the characters come to life. I hated Broom all the way through - thoroughly nauseating!
David Monteath was superb as always. I think he could read the weather and I would be enthralled.
An excellent book that I would readily recommend to men and women alike.

EXCELLENT ...

I really enjoyed this book, even more so by the excellent performance by David Monteath. This should have lasted me for a week...but I was so enthralled I finished it in two listens. This is definitely a book to buy!!
