Be an effective listener
Communication skills are so important in daily life, whether it is for friends and family or in a business environment. This audiobook helped me to become a better communicator. To me, the best part is to learn to become an effective listener. Because it is by listening well that we can really communicate with each other. Also, I like non-verbal communication, which goes deeper than just the speech you are making. Breaking the ice is also very useful for me as I often find it difficult or embarrassing to start a conversation. This audiobook is useful for anyone who is trying to improve communication skills and the guidelines are practical and easy to follow.

Have meaningful conversations
In today's world, it can be very difficult to learn what meaningful conversation looks like. We are all so busy that we are usually trying to get our point across but not exactly listening to what the other person is saying. I see this all the time at work. Pretty much just waiting for the other person to stop talking so we can say what we want. What I have been working on recently is how to just listen more. And not just listen but listen to the underlying messages in what they are saying too. Why are they saying what they are saying? This book lays out the approach to take to start learning how to not only be an effective listener but also be an effective communicator. Make sure that what you are saying is what you mean. Don't just talk to talk, but put thought into what you are saying and make sure what you are saying is of value.

So many great tips!
The general dispute resolution strategies are really flexible, even though some of the cases felt a little too workplace-focused. The reflective intervals strewn throughout were especially valuable since they allowed me to take in what I was learning. This book truly remains with you because it forces you to put its teachings into practice. It is not simply another communication book. It also highlights the importance of listening even if you think you are a good one, you may realize you could improve!
