I desperately wanted to like this as there are so few novels about this period of time. But for the life of me I can't understand why an American was asked to narrate a story about England. It grated badly, and there were numerous mispronunciations. Plus the story itself had dialogue and references that were definitely not of their time, place or country.

Inappropriate narration and anachronism in the story
