About this listen

Dining alone in an elegant Parisian brasserie, accountant Daniel Mercier can hardly believe his eyes when President François Mitterrand sits down to eat at the table next to him. After the presidential party has gone, Daniel discovers that Mitterrand’s black felt hat has been left behind. After a few moments’ soul-searching, Daniel decides to keep the hat as a souvenir of an extraordinary evening. It’s a perfect fit, and as he leaves the restaurant Daniel begins to feel somehow...different.

I loved this story. Pure escapism, wonderfully narrated. I would heartily recommend it. I rather imagine that I will hear a certain phrase the next time I eat oysters :)

I wasn’t sure where this was going at first but stuck with what appeared at first to be a series of short interconnected stories. Very cleverly done.

An original and enjoyable short read

Spells by the storyline, I found it impossible to stop listening. The journey of The President's Hat took me on a meandering tour of several cities in France. The epilogue was extremely informative.

Such a wonderful read!

In these times of doom and gloom The President's Hat was a lovely contrast to everyday life. A quirky tale of fate, change, aspiration and achievement. I loved the descriptions of Paris and the vignettes of each of the characters, who were all read by different people. A great escape from COVID19!

A Delightful Listen!
