Summary

Eight years ago she burned me. Now, my ex is the key to my revenge against her family.

The rest of the world calls her the Princess of Wall Street, but I call her shallow. Traitorous. A she-devil in Prada. Those are the nicest words I’ll use for my ex, Cora Margulis, since I’ve made it my mission to keep her name off my lips. Though I can barely keep her memory out of my head.

My brothers and I have climbed the rungs of success, starting from the basement. Now that we’re at the top, I don’t lack much. But my newest charity needs a particular type of building. And the Realtor who holds it is the father of the Princess herself.

If he was anybody else, this would be an easy transaction. But there’s so much bad blood between the Margulis family and myself, I’m liable to drown at any moment.

But revenge burns hot inside me and I decide to alchemize this opportunity. It’s time to give the Margulis family what they deserve. I’ve been waiting eight years to show this man just how high a poor Kentucky boy can climb.

But in order to get to Allan, I need to get much closer to Cora.

The price of revenge, it turns out, is pretty steep.

I just might lose my empire—and my heart—in the process.

Billionaires. Bad boys. Bleeding hearts. These outsiders are known as the Bad Boys of Wall Street and every book in the series features glittering Manhattan skyscrapers, swoon-worthy heroes, and a guaranteed HEA.

Great audiobook!

This was the redemption I needed from Cora! While I was expecting (hoping for) a bit more push and pull between the main characters, the drama involving her current husband more than made up for any missing angst between our couple. Her family issues are consistent from the first book and bring out just as much anger as the storyline progresses. We also have some continuing drama with the Fairbanks brothers that have me in the hook for what’s coming in the next book! Great storytelling, decent heat level and amazing audio performances!

The narration was great. Both narrators did an amazing job giving each character their own take and personality. I also never had an issue differentiating between internal monologue and dialect. When Axel and Cora got emotional, I felt it in the performance and it added a lot to the story. Especially feisty Cora!!! That came through in spades.

Between the performances and great storytelling this was hard to turn off!

Fabulous series!

This is a fabulous story! Easily in my top ten this year, this duet is so good, I could not put it down. Ember Leigh is crafting a story of the Fairchild brothers that is second to none. We pick up after The Price of Promise and finds Axel and Cora eight years later. Cora's choice to stay with the family business finds her unhappy and in a loveless marriage. Nothing she has accomplished is recognized by her parents, but she is slated to be the next CEO of their company. Axel and his brothers have risen to the elite. Working hard and smart, their way to the top is through hard work, and as a result of their wealth, they are philanthropic. Now wanting a building for their charity offices and events, Axel is ready to go to Cora's office with an offer. And our story begins. Betrayals and pain are at the forefront as soulmates work their way through guilt, heavy hearts and love. I love this couple for so many reasons, but what stands out the most to me is the concessions they make for each other. Life is hard, decisions can be life changing and these two find a way to make it work. It's an amazing listen and I loved it!

Jeremy York and Jill Smith finish out this duet and it's amazing. York is a favorite and he nails the role of Axel. He is emotional and real, strong and resilient. His voice gives every inflection so feelings go straight to the heart. Smith comes in as Cora and what a woman she creates. Cora has a lot to deal with, and her pain and love are strong. Smith brings it all out, each nuance making her real. I loved this pair and their narration impeccable.

Awesome Story & Narration🎧 Gripping & Intense!

Ember Leigh delivers more “Bad Boys of Wall Street” greatness and an amazing followup to “The Price of a Promise”, a continuation of Axel and Cora’s story, a story that picks up eight years later. Cora has lived her life just as her father wanted, married the man he chose for her, Eli, and is working in the family business, but she is not happy, her loveless marriage is on the rocks and she is tired of pretending. The Fairchild brothers have done everything they set out to do, became billionaires and continue to excel in the business world. They have been looking for a commercial property for their next project and saw one just come on the market that would be perfect, except it is one of Margulis’ properties. Axel would not let that stop them from pursuing it and comes up with a plan and for the first time in eight years he steps into enemy territory and sees her, the woman he loved and the one who betrayed him and broke his heart. Axel knew dealing with the Margulis was going to be challenging, one he was up to, he has some tricks up his sleeve, but would that be enough to stand up to the ruthless Allan and equally ruthless Eli, who always played dirty, even with an unexpected ally in his corner. This is a fantastic second chance romance, a story of vengeance and even redemption, and a story like no other. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all played out, with a perfect balance of drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and a steamy and meant to be romance. Ember Leigh, thank you for this amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧   Jeremy York and Jill Smith continue to do an amazing job portraying these characters, giving each a voice that is fitting and humanizing them with their emotions. I loved how they took each role and owned it, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. The pacing and tone are perfect and the quality of the audio is top-notch. They are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevates this already amazing story to another level. Thanks for another fantastic listen.

Cora and Axel!

Cora was born into a wealthy family who are more concerned about their elite status than anything else. Eight years ago, she ended her engagement to Axel not because she didn’t love but because she did. Since then, she has followed her parent’s plan for her future until Axel comes back into her life and she fights for the life she has always wanted.

In the years since Cora ended their relationship Axel and his brothers have created a successful financial business and want to purchase a property that Cora’s family business is selling. This will force him to face the only woman he has ever loved where truths will be revealed that will have him reconsidering both his relationship with Cora and the past.

Cora and Axel have always belonged together even though outside forces are determined to keep them apart. The love between them is stronger than ever but so are all the challenges they must overcome. Through the narrators you can not only feel the angst that Cora and Axel were feeling as well as both the strength and insecurities of the characters.
