Just too short

I enjoyed the idea of this story, I felt, however, it was just too short. I wished it could have delved into the reasons of why these court hearings existed and certainly the background of each of the characters.

A nugget of brilliance

This is an excellently written little drama short, set in a scarily possible distopian future, my first experience with the author but definitely won't be my last!

Delightfully gripping!

A beautiful story about humanity and how the choices that we make ripple out. I was gripped from the start right until the end. Cleverly written with interesting twists that had my head spinning for days after!

Thought-provoking speculative fiction

Interesting world-building and characterization and a gripping listen. The story explores big ideas in a short time, including personal ethics, epigenetics and the nature of free will.

fantastic

this is absolutely, unexpectedly brilliant. the author has somehow managed to create an entire futuristic society in a short story. there are references to the economy, social status, misogyny, gender, race, history and technology (as well as the legal system) in this courtroom production. it's very very cleverly done, and considering the complex nature of the narrative, the most impressive feat of the author is how accessible and easy to understand the story is.

I'm thoroughly impressed and the production, including the sound effects is really fantastic. I was hesitant to download this book because although very interesting, I thought the description was complex and that I would struggle to understand the story but I'm so glad I took a chance to listen to it. I will definitely look out for other works by this author. thank you audible.

superb short

I loved this very believable tale of technology, destiny and eugenics. it was clever and I didn't anticipate the ending.

I did get distracted by an inconsistency around gender issues but it was not narratively critical so I haven't reduced my stats.

Thought-provoking and hope-giving

In the future world in which every deed could be a crime an unborn child is put at a trial.
Are her trespasses good enjoy a train to prevent her being born, and are the jurors capable of mercy even if their descendants could be hurt?
Such an interesting premise.
Give this story a listen, you compatriot. We need to be reminded of the last two sentences of the story.

An importan piece of work

An important piece of work, on the level of The Handmaid's Tale and 12 Angry Men. I wish it were a full novel, the writing is great and the idea so genious.

EXCELLENT I loved it

Really enjoyed this story. It was so interesting and fascinating. I like all the futuristic technology and how it shows up in the story as just a matter of fact normal thing. The world presented within this tale is quite chilling when you stop and think. It's short and to the point. I will probably listen again.
