Not the best in the series... still good
Overall this was a nice conclusion to the Cantos. The story rounded off in a way that was suited. I can't say that I agreed with all of the decisions that Dan Simmons made but I can see why they were made.
Some aspects of the story I wish could have been developed further in the place of some romances but overall a good performance saves what is probably the weakest of the series.
None of the rest of the series was a match for Hyperion but a compulsion to finish had not left me dissatisfied.

An adventure to savour
Utterly brilliant. 5 stars does it an injustice. The epic journey is one you will want to travel alongside

Hyperion Cantos
Wow, what an adventure. possibly some of the best world building I've ever listened to on an Audiobook. Kudos also to Victor Bevine for bringing this incredible journey and it's characters to life.

The final book
I think each book in the series was better than the last. This is definitely the best.

An enjoyable end to the Hyperion Cantos
This was a tricky book to review, for in many ways to review this is to review this as a whole. Regarded as one of the titans among science fiction, the cantos has been a journey through many planets, systems and human emotions. This series it at times thrilling, tender and a beautiful example of how to write in this genre. If you are a fan of science fiction or of fantasy, you owe it to yourself to read the series. a true rating of this series would've been 4 and a half stars, so since I cannot award that I've decided to factor in the fact that I'm putting 4 books together as a whole. In that respect, Dan and this series deserve their plaudits. Would absolutely recommend. As for this book, this wraps up what I'd personally regard as a series of two "doubles" in the same universe if that makes sense. Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion can be read by themselves without the Endymion paring. Obviously the latter two requite the former to truly reap the reward after finishing. At times, this story is beautifully poetic, thrilling and awe-inspiring. This book is equally brilliant. a great final installment which ties up everything perfectly, including the origin of the Shrike... Needless to say, you must read this if you've read the other 3. You're probably going to anyway. Victors narration is fantastic as always. In all, spend the credit and get this. You won't regret it.

A Rich Epic
I'm glad I persisted through the entire series. I had felt that the second book - The Fall of Hyperion - as it was a bit heavy with exposition. The concluding third and fourth books feel like a pair and are both consistently exciting and fascinating. Simmons has an enormous imagination, and describes imagery and philosophy that still feel fresh, quarter of a century after he published them. It's all slow going, or at least it's exhausting somehow, but worth it.

Utterly amazing
Rounded off the whole Hyperion saga perfectly. Loved it. Left a big hole of what to listen to next.
