About this listen
The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Year One and Of Blood and Bone concludes her stunning new trilogy praised as “A match for end-of-the-world classics like Stephen King’s The Stand.”
After the sickness known as the Doom destroyed civilization, magick has become commonplace, and Fallon Swift has spent her young years learning its ways. Fallon cannot live in peace until she frees those who have been preyed upon by the government or the fanatical Purity Warriors, endlessly hunted or locked up in laboratories, brutalized for years on end. She is determined to save even those who have been complicit with this evil out of fear or weakness - if, indeed, they can be saved.
Strengthened by the bond she shares with her fellow warrior, Duncan, Fallon has already succeeded in rescuing countless shifters and elves and ordinary humans. Now she must help them heal - and rediscover the light and faith within themselves. For although from the time of her birth, she has been The One, she is still only one. And as she faces down an old nemesis, sets her sights on the enemy’s stronghold, and pursues her destiny - to finally restore the mystical shield that once protected them all - she will need an army behind her....

"[Julia] Whelan's ability to portray a large cast of characters, giving each a unique voice, is laudable. Each character is discernible from the rest — no matter their gender, age, or regional accent. Her soothing tone and even pacing keep the lengthy story moving for the listener. Overall, Whelan deftly presents another production worth listening to." —AudioFile Magazine

The best trilogy
This trilogy are my favourite books now.
I like fantasy books, I found "Year one" in my local library. On beginning it was hard to read, but when the doom happened then I was kidnapped by Nora Roberts' book.
Perfect for holiday, for listening and going for walk. This trilogy took me to another realm, distress, it was pleasure both to read and listening. Now I'm looking what book should I read next, I'm lucky that Nora wrote over 200 of them 😊. Thank you for such an amazing story.

It's harsh for me to rate this as I'm clearly not the target audience. I enjoyed the first book a lot but as the series settled into its subject matter it clearly isn't for me. Great narration was a massive boost for me. I could list the issues I had with it but as I said I don't think that's fair. If you liked the 2nd book, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Great trilogy
The narrator was brilliant. The story great, but a bit repetitive. A good end to the trilogy

Enjoyble conclusion to the series
Overall, I enjoyed this book, but I found that it jumped around a lot in the first half - I kept thinking I'd missed bits. The narrator was great, I've enjoyed the development of the series. I like that the skills that are valued in the communities are so varied - that gardening or weaving is considered valuable, alongside warrior skills.

AMAZING!!!!
This was prophetic in nature, I started the trilogy during burger if the pandemic & felt it captured life so brilliantly, thoughtful, scary, beautiful, touching and one of the best trilogies I’ve read. I’ve never enjoyed an audible so much (especially considering the length!) I am now. Nora Roberts super fan.
Studio Execs MAKE THIS a MOVIE TRILOGY! So much better than the sappy, poorly written twilight rubbish, or faded hunger games. Read it!!

The One trilogy
Totally mesmerising. Year One, Of Blood and Bone & The Rise of Magicks, all fantastic books.
Brilliantly narrated by Julia Whelan.
Can't say I've ever read books that bring up so many emotions.
Be sure to start at the beginning with Year One, you won't regret it.
