About this listen

He demanded the immediate dispatch of two suitably trained operatives to Salzburg. Extreme measures might be necessary.

In 1945, with their thousand-year empire falling around them and the Allies on their heels, the Nazis hide a sealed chest in the dark, forbidding waters of the Finstersee—a lake surrounded by the brooding peaks of the Austrian Alps. There it lies for 21 years, almost forgotten, until a British agent decides to raise it from the depths. The secrets he uncovers are far-reaching and lethal, and in Salzburg, Bill Mathison, a New York attorney on the trail of a missing colleague, finds himself drawn into the shadowy underworld of international espionage. Not knowing who to trust amidst the chaos, he is drawn to two beautiful women, one of whom will betray him.

I really enjoyed listening to this political thriller. It has lots of twists and turns and it has a very happy ending. I must recommend it.

A great book

Set in Switzerland and Austria this book follows a pattern of espionage and innocence with a cute love story.

Another great tale

A good and intriguing story that was rather let down by a light ending when set against the context of a complex story up until that point. Enjoyable though.

An Intriguing Story

Slow moving and not a gripping plot. Gave up. I could not get through it.

Long Winded and easy to put down

Very slow and disjointed plot. I honestly don’t know how I made it to the end.

What stood out most? Nothing really.
