This beautiful story about love and protection from the perspective of a father, mother, foster parents, neighbours and Emmeline.

Emmeline has an incredible life and it all is surrounded by scents. Scents tell her a story.

A story that tells her story from childhood living with her father on an island, her father who passed away, her living with the people who found her, school life, love life, finding her lover, discovering that she has a mother, and discovering what the fairy tales and scents were really telling her.

scents has been a big part of her whole family and in the end it will make you appreciate scents in a whole other way.

I enjoyed this book, I was immersed in the world of the protagonist. Some moments seemed too flirting though - would have liked more development in places.

loved this book on so many levels. the memory of the scents, the nature of the scents....a lovely thinking about people and things based on the scents we smell. really loved this book and didnt want it to end.

The narrators voice to a while to get used to -it didn’t fit with the character, but it was quite soothing and otherly. The imagery of the island and the smells was very evocative. I have been searching ways to go to Canada to smell them for myself

First class, I loved this story, and was left wanting more, what happened to the characters next- sequel please! Perfect narration, very calming & soothing, just what is needed to take a time out from busy life.

I have never come across a book more unique and with a breathtaking story, I wish to read over again, as soon as I was done. This is one of my favorite books I have read in my adult life.......I do read a lot, wink.
Please write a book 2. So much more story to tell. Please "lark" go back to the island.
