It's a pretty straightforward origin story, but it's well written. I especially like how he describes the regeneration powers. The cast is small and likeable, and the framing device is different and interesting.

If I had one criticism it would be that the ending feels abrupt. I get that it's setting up the sequel, and I will be getting the second book, but it did make me go "Huh... well okay that was a choice." Don't get me wrong, it doesn't feel incomplete. It finishes the main story, while setting up a few new threads going forward. Just don't expect to be hanging around with the characters afterwards to see how the climactic battle effects everyone.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out in the follow up.

a really good story, hard not to draw comparisons to most of the other superheroes origin stories out there. Author did a good job trying to cover how the the hero would survive most of the feed back from using his powers, good character development and relating to the main character. Narrator did a great job too.
