About this listen

It's the perfect neighborhood, filled with not-so-perfect people.

Alyson Tinsdale is giving her son the childhood she never had: a stable family, loving home, and a great school in a safe neighborhood. When they move into the home of her dreams in one of Denver's most sought-after developments, Alyson works hard to fit in and impress the other mothers.

Bonnie Sloan is the neighborhood matriarch. With her oldest son headed to Yale, and her youngest starting kindergarten, Bonnie is now pursuing her own long-held political aspirations. But it's her middle child, Elijah, and their private family struggles, that cast a shadow over her plans.

When the open space behind some of the most expensive homes gets slated for development into an amusement facility, the neighborhood becomes deeply divided. The personal pressures and community conflicts ratchet with every passing day, but it's when a 13-year-old is found dead beside the neighborhood lake that simmering tensions boil over into panic.

Gossip flows, lies are exposed, and accusations are made as cracks run through the community's once solid foundations. The neighborhood's faith in exterior appearances is eclipsed by the secrets every house keeps.

Rebecca Taylor, author of Her Perfect Life, returns with this fast-paced, engrossing novel that reminds us that nothing is ever as perfect as it seems.

The Story (?)

A bit slow at first but once I got into it I really enjoyed it. I can really explain why but I enjoyed this book more than anything I’ve listened to in a long time (Loved the ending).

A drama not a thriller

Still a good listen but in the wrong category I feel- wish the unsolved murder element felt more combined with the other elements not just solved suddenly at the end.

About - this is about alyson and justin. They do have a 5 year old kid name Andrew. Who is struggling with school.
They live in a ‘perfect’ neighbourhood where alyson is trying to fit in even though they were struggling .
Andrew is very naughty kid and I don’t get the writing style on him.
Anyway, until a kid was found dead . The perfect neighbourhood face with fear .

- okay so that is the part I understand the story. Up until to the end which I don’t quite follow where is the story now.
There is a story where Justin spying with the neighbours up until he confesses he can’t afford the house.
There this family of the missing kid trying to be friend again with alyson after they accuse of Andrew hitting their kid.
It’s literally a mishaps.
I have to skip some pages to speed it up,at it was a slow paced and doesn’t add up with the story and the title . So I ended up giving it 2.

Had to give up after 2 hours!

I really tried to listen to this but after restarting twice I had to finally give up! Could not follow it at all and the language is atrocious and unnecessary!
