spellbinding
To listen to this wonderful story whilst travelling to and around for work was a pleasure.
a fictional story yet set in a true setting. really interesting.

Absolutely brilliant
I love this author's books and generally read them as soon as they come out.
This book was absolutely perfect, the story, the writing, and I loved the characters.
If you like WW2 fiction, I strongly recommend you listen to this.

A sugarcoated love story.
Overall, I enjoyed it. It was a lighter read than expected and the love storylines of the 3 women reminded me of a 1930s Mills & Boon.
I live close to Latimer and so I know the Mansion house well and the surrounding area and this is why I enjoyed the book more than I would have otherwise.
The Narrator pronounces some of the village names wrong including Bovingdon and Chenies, which was very irritating to listen to. BOV-ing-don is the correct pronunciation, not Boa-ving-don, and Chenies should be pronounced CHAIN-eys.
I also noticed several other errors in the Narration, which I had to speed up.

The narration was just wonderful!!
I absolutely loved this book, the narration was outstanding the ability to change between so many voice was outstanding, it made a fabulous story even more enjoyable.

A wonderful story
I have really enjoyed all of Jules Wake’s previous books... now she has tried her hand at historical fiction ...set during WW2,the story of 3 very different women thrown together at Latimer House.
I really loved this book and it’s characters... well done Jules.
Great narration too.

Beautifully written!
A brilliant listen that captures wartime Britain beautifully. An uplifting story! Great narration by Ms Atherton and wonderfully written by Jules Wake. The narration is skilful and nails it with both the British and European accents.

Too Mills and Boon
This has been painful to listen to. I made myself listen as I couldn't return it. Very cheesy in parts, it's cringey and predictable. Military women wouldn't behave this way. Narrator does a reasonable job with the voices, but her storytelling is very stilted had up the speed otherwise it would be too slow. Wish I'd not believed some of the reviews for this book. The sample did not give a true view of the narration. Won't be choosing a book from this author again.
