About this listen

You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but what about his mistress? Henry Forster has loved only one woman his entire life. Sarah, a farmer's daughter, bore him a son when he was merely the nephew of the Earl of Gisborn. Despite Henry's numerous proposals, Sarah has refused to marry him, claiming he must seek a wife suitable to his rank. And now that he's inherited the earldom and needs a legitimate heir, he is determined to find a biddable wife but keep Sarah as his lover and his young son in his life.

Lady Hannah Slater, the daughter of the Marquess of Devonville, decided long ago that men have no regard for their wives and only ever love their mistresses. Husbands, she thinks, are for fathering children. Her large dog, Harold MacDuff can provide protection, but she wants desperately to have a child. So when the Earl of Gisborn offers for her hand, she readily accepts. When the earl doesn't bed her on their wedding night - he thought it inappropriate to take her virtue in her childhood bed - Hannah is upset and makes her displeasure known while the two are on their way to Oxfordshire. In an effort to appease her, Henry agrees to the proviso that he bed only Hannah until she is with child - then he can resume his relations with Sarah. He is unaware that his true love has set her sights on a different future -one that doesn't include him. It will take the antics and devotion of man's best friend to teach Henry and Hannah that sometimes love is right in front of your nose in The Seduction of the Earl.

The Seduction of an Earl

Miss Sande. I have just finished the Audible edition of the book and I must say I enjoyed it very much. The narration was excellent. Mr Troughton told a wonderful story. I was so happy that he admitted that he loved his wife at the end. It was a true love story. He loved a lady who was not of the Ton, and had given her a baby. A son who he loved very much. But she refused to marry him saying that he needed a wife of the same breeding as him. He tried for years to persuade her but she would not agree. When he married his lovely wife went to the mother of his child and asked her to move in with them. She being naive and thought her husband could sleep with his love when ever he chose. But the mistress would not do hat saying that he was now married and things were different. So eventually she fell in love and was going to marry another. The Lord and his wife were going to have their own baby. In a few months the Lord had settled down and changed completely. It was a lovely story and kept me entertained from first until the last. Well done Miss Sande.

Excellent!

Oooh, I do love this series!
This is another story in it which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
Before I go on, I have to mention a huge furry character by the name of Harold MacDuff. This is Hannah's dog and faithful, loving, long-time companion. His portrayal is almost human and I just fell totally in love with him.
Well, this is Hannah and Henry's story. Both go into the marriage for reasons of their own but not for love and when it hits them, smack between their eyes, neither are willing to admit to this love until it is almost too late.
Besides all this, can you imagine going into a marriage knowing that as soon as the agreed upon goals have been achieved, then your husband will be going back to his mistress. Oh no!
But this is a historical romance, so there has to be a happy-ever-after and thank goodness for that!
I am so happy to have listened to the audiobook as it made my heart sing.
My voluntary and unbiased review is recorded above.

Loved it

Loved every second of it, I couldn't stop listening. I couldn't wait to get back to it each time I stopped.
I love Linda Rae Sande's heros and heroines. The heroines are always so sweet and funny, and in this story Hannah was such a darling but at times regarding Sarah, Henry's first love, I thought she was a bit too nice about it all. No matter how sweet a girl can be I don't think she would tolerate Henry's conditions about Sarah, at least not to that extent. Although Henry was a really nice man. Loved both the Hero and Heroine like I did in all the previous books. I love that the main characters from the previous books are mentioned in each book.
Michael Troughton, the narrator was very good. His voice for the hero, Henry, was very good, better than it was in the previous book for Joshua and Gareth. But I didn't like his voice for Elizabeth, Hannah's friend, and George, Elizabeth's husband in this book. Elizabeth sounded like a an older woman and George also sounded like an older man and they were all more or less the same age as Henry and Hannah and Charlotte and Joshua. Having said that I will definitely be listening to each book again.
Now on to the next one according to timeline which is The Enigma of a Widow.
