About this listen

Jensen Beach, Florida, is a quaint coastal town once revered as the “land that time forgot”. The place where big city dwellers come for vacation. It was once known for its beautiful sandy beaches, breezy ocean air, pleasant year-round weather, frilly cocktails, hometown boutique shops and restaurants, and ocean activities.

The town is also home to some unsavory characters and its many hidden skeletons—literally.

When Aunt Adeline goes missing, it is up to her niece, Charlotte, to uncover the clues of her deeply hidden family secrets and the town she calls home.

Enjoy the dual narrative from both Aunt Adeline’s and Charlotte’s point of view. Discover secrets The She Shed holds, the importance of friendship, and the true meaning of family.

Absorbing story of friendship and murder

I thoroughly enjoyed The She Shed by Leah Orr. Charlotte, who works in Atlanta, is called by local police in Jensen Beach FL because her Aunt Adeline is missing and a neighbor’s dog found a human bone in the yard. Charlotte arrives at her aunt’s home to find the garden being dug up and multiple bodies discovered. She has to figure out what happened by following clues and puzzles left by Adeline. The story is told by the two characters in turn and is very compelling. All the characters are well developed and believable and they embrace Charlotte in her journey. There are no loose ends because the author wraps everything up. There is even a different mini story before the audiobook finishes. The narration by Annalee Scott is wonderful. She creates unique voices for each character and brings them and the story to life. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

A fab mixture of tragedy and humour.

The author gives a deep dive into human nature and all its complexities. As is her awesome style, Leah Orr is able to mix the tragic with the quirky and the humorous.

I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable short listen, which didn’t need too much brain power. Just the tonic for a day when I felt unwell. And the narrator, Annalee Scott, does a great job of bringing the people alive.

I would recommend both the narrator and author one-hundred percent. This is the second of Leah Orr’s books I’ve listened too, and she’s fast becoming a fave. The She Shed is well worth a listen!

Loved it!

I have enjoyed all of Leah Orr's books so far and this one is no exception. A plethera of well developed characters and a good plot all go to make this a most interesting short listen. Told firstly from Charlotte's point of view and then in part 2 from her Aunt's it's fascinating listening from start to finish. There's a sweet little short story at the end too! ☺ Annalee Scott's narration is excellent!
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review. Highly recommended.
