Summary

Sometimes You Win: Part 1

Haley Rosewood’s life has never been easy, especially not with a class-A jerk for a boss and a marketing job that barely pays her enough to provide a roof over her daughter’s head and food for the table. Every day is a struggle, and the thought of being romantically involved with anyone is a dream she doesn’t dare indulge.

Devon Carrington is the type of man to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need, and when he finds Haley struggling through a bad day, he does everything he can. In return, he asks that she help him pick out lottery numbers and tells her that if he wins, she gets half.

When the winning numbers are drawn, and Devon and Haley learn that they have won, can the two of them put their one-night stand behind them and build something for the future? Find out in Sometimes You Win.

Sometimes You Lose: Part 2

It’s been three weeks since Haley Rosewood and Devon Carrington won the lottery. Most people would picture their days taking them from one exciting journey to another and their nights filled with champagne and caviar as appetizers to unbridle their passion - but that’s not what happens.

Instead, Haley is trying to find a new home, a place to start her business, and a way to keep control of her life. Devon is only trying to help her, but it seems that everything he does just pushes Haley’s buttons in the wrong way.

When a new contract comes into his security company, it threatens not only the future of his company, but Haley and Allison’s welfare, as well. Devon must take drastic measures to stop it, and Haley has to trust him, but can she before it’s too late? Or will her trust in him be what destroys her in Sometimes You Lose?

Sometimes You Play the Game: Part 3

Haley Rosewood’s life has been turned upside down by the man she loved and trusted - not only is she locked up in a jail cell, away from her daughter, but she has no idea whom to trust. Frustratingly, Haley will have to depend on Devon’s siblings to extricate her from a legal embroilment that could leave her in prison for years.

Devon Carrington did what he thought was right to protect Haley and her daughter Allison, but everyone around him has a different opinion: Eric thinks he’s crazy, Brenda is furious, and Chuck just shakes his head.

Haley must put aside her emotions and pretend to be something she’s not in order to return home and be with her daughter. Finding the proof that she was telling the truth is going to be harder than she anticipated, and when ghosts from her past arrive at her front door, she’s not sure she can trust them.

Will Haley be able to prove she didn’t kidnap her daughter, or will she end up losing everything and having to watch her daughter grow up from behind bars? Find out in this final installment of the Sometimes Series trilogy.

An enjoyable listen

I quite enjoyed this series...there was a lot to like and of course there were the parts I didn't enjoy so much. I really like this author and will continue to listen/read her books. I liked the characters and their chemistry. There were things both had to endure or get over and that added to their story. I would recommend it to others.

Just right

I loved the Julie Walters and Gene Branson dual narration.

This is a great book, it has three stories , that are each as great as the last.

In the first book Sometimes You Win, you find romance with a back ground of turmoil. As all great love stories the couple must go through pain. You so want them to find the there HEA.: Crossing fingers.

Sometimes You Lose is the second part of this trilogy.

Still loving these characters, you will so want the every thing to go right for them, even though the do seem to have a bad time more offen than not.. You will be rooting for them.

Sometimes You Play The Game, is the third and last of this great story. Oh we still have drama and suspense. Brilliant characters, so well written and so enjoyable.

Wonderful story!

This series explores the highs and lows of struggling to make ends meet, dealing with loss, and the euphoria of that big win. It also shows the emotional roller coaster trying to be responsible for ones self can be when pride gets in the way. A true rags to riches story that takes an unsuspecting turn. You'll hate some of the characters, but mostly you'll want to love and cheer for them. I just loved Allison's attitude. She has a lot of spunk for a kid, and I loved seeing the relationship between her and Devon grow. I don't believe biology makes a parent; and Allison really proves it in this book. It's one of those stories you can't wait to see what happens but are sad that it's ended. "I was gifted a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review."

3 Great Books!

Three books in 1 by Stacy Eaton!
Sometimes You Win: I found this book to be very good and it pulled me in. I thought the basis of this book was very good and realistic. I can understand the want to be independent and not accept help from others. This story features Hailey, a single mom, and Devon, a security businessman, Allison, Hailey's daughter, and Mrs. German, the grandma-like neighbor of Hailey and Allison. Devon was attracted to Hailey for months before he bumps into her. I liked how subtle and persistent he was in pursing Hailey. They had a major miscommunication which resulted in them not being together for a while. Hailey's antics to avoid him were very realistic. A life changing event then happened which brought them back together. Things seemed like everything was great and the story ended. Not a cliffhanger ending, but open to continuation. Without giving away spoilers, I must say the author wrote a great story and featured some thought provoking things. Kudos to Stacy Easton for another great book.
This was the first time that I had heard Julie Walters and Gene Branson perform. They were good, but didn't have as many distinguishable voices for the various characters as I was hoping to hear. The delivery and performance was flawless, but not exceptional. I think I'm sometimes too picky with expectations of performance.,
Book 2: Sometimes You Lose: Stacy Eaton did it again with this book. I was immediately pulled into this story with the continuation of Haley and Devon's relationship. I love how they both are looking out for Allison's welfare, and for the focus on Haley's past. She is such a hardworking selfless person, yet keeps things guarded. I was very much surprised by the twist at the end of the book when Devon tells her to Trust Me. I do not like giving away spoilers in my reviews, it is noted that this is a cliffhanger, but its really well done. I thought the narration team of Julie Walters and Gene Branson did a great performance with their duel POV. They are consistent with their character portrayals.
Book 3: Sometimes You Play the Game: Stacy Eaton wrote this conclusion to the series perfectly. I loved the twists and unexpected events that took place in this story. Both Julie Walters and Gene Branson added so much to the enjoyment of this book with their realistic emotions. I loved their distinguished voices for the various characters. Haley, Devon, Allison, Mrs. Germain all are endearing characters. The ending of this book was spectacular.
