Summary

The Spook and his apprentice, Thomas Ward, deal with the dark. Together they rid the county of witches, ghosts, and boggarts. In this third and terrifying instalment in the Wardstone Chronicles, the nights are drawing in and it's time for Tom and his master to move to Anglezarke, the Spook's winter house. Tom has heard it will be a sinister and menacing place, but nothing could fully prepare him for what he finds there. For this house, and indeed the whole of Anglezarke moor, is full of secrets about the Spook's past. Secrets that are about to come to the surface and could wreak havoc on the whole County.

Winning Third Book

The third story int he Wardstone Chronicle was as good as the previous ones. As scary and magical as the rest. With new plot development to tantilise and tease. My only complain is that again they get a new narrate to read the story. While Thomas Judd did a sterling job and I really enjoyed his reading of the book, I would have liked consistency with the second and first.

Brilliant books.

Read them as a kid, being dyslexic I think I missed a lot of it or just don't remeber, enjoying the audio books more than the books.

Good story but recording contain errors

Where does The Spook's Secret rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Good story, well written characters

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Spook's Secret?

As title said it reveals the secrets of the spook. After two books you think you know the characters but in this book you will learn about the spook's past.

Would you be willing to try another one of Thomas Judd’s performances?

Yes, I like his performance, especially changing accent

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

yes, it was supprising to know emotional part of the spook

Any additional comments?

everything was fine except some recording errors which are in one of the exciting part of the books, sigh

Great book, unfortunate glitches

Love the story, and the narration of this book (unlike the previous book where the narration was extremely over dramatised). Unfortunately there were a few parts in the book which seemed to glitch and jump. Initially thought it was my headphones but went back and listened again a few times and it was definitely the book. It didn’t skip enough to miss a lot of the story but was still very irritating at the time.

Great book, broken audio recording

The book is brilliant. Another great instalment in the famous series, continuing the adventures of Tom, the Spook’s apprentice, and his master. The first few books in this series have been alright but this one in particular has had quite a few recording errors where it sounds like a scratched record or a broken cassette tape, which ultimately made some of the chapters difficult to listen to, and the story less enjoyable.
