Summary

Jim was left in the custody of the League Navy, this story opens with him escaping from his prison cell on the League base on Steren-Gwandra, where he is awaiting deportation back to his home world. He has discovered that Bibs, a crew girl from Captain Garth's ship, is also a prisoner. Jim holds Garth responsible for the Bishop's death, and plans to hunt him down, with Bibs' help. Garth is really the crazed Captain Zennor, head of an army which continually defies League peace treaties, and now plans to invade and conquer the planet Chojecki. The people of Chojecki are pacifists, having no armies and no police. But Garth's generals decide to attack anyway, since there are no medals for "generals who bring back the troops intact". Jim must save the people of Chojecki before he can face Garth.

Another Stainless Steel Rat Adventure

If you're a fan of the Stainless Steel Rat this is certainly worth a purchase. Phil Gigante does a very good job of narrating and manages to make the audiobook as funny as the actual book. I did, however, not enjoy the story as much as the other Stainless Steel Rat stories, so if this is your first purchase I would recommend buying 'The Stainless Steel Rat' or perhaps 'A Stainless Steel Rat is Born'- as the story is direct sequel to that book it is best to be familiar with it anyway. Nevertheless, certainly worth the time and money even if it lacks the spark of some of the earlier works.

Another in a brilliant series

For those of you who have never heard of Jim Digriz, you are missing out on and unbelievable story. It is a combination of sci-fi, comedy and even some science (in a suitably comedic fashion) For pure escapism, take a trip to the stars with the Stainless Steel Rat. It is a journey you will not regret. And Phil Gigante has to be one of the best artists I have ever heard. His characterisations are phenomenal.

Superb Stainless Steel Rat story

Really enjoyable romp & great follow on to A Stainless Steel Rat Is Born.
Harry Harrison delivers another fine tale for this anti hero.
