Summary
For Ned, 1980 seems a blissful year. Handsome, charming, popular and talented, his life is progressing smoothly, effortlessly, happily. And when he meets the lovely Portia Fendeman his personal jigsaw appears complete. But timing is everything in life, and his life is about to change for ever.
Things are going to get very bad indeed for innocent young Ned. A promise made to a dying teacher and a spiteful trick played by fellow pupils will rocket Ned from cricket captain to solitary confinement, from head boy to hell. When Ned emerges he is a man bent on just one thing - revenge; and revenge is a dish he plans to savour and serve to those who conspired against him.
Part love story, part thriller, a gloriously rich mix that only Stephen Fry can dish up to us, The Stars' Tennis Balls will leave you happy and replete.

Written and Narrated by SF - fabulous!
The worst part about this story was it's length - I would've preferred it to be a bit longer! I really like Stephen Fry so it was great to get the double pleasure of him narrating a book that he wrote. It wasn't quite the happy ending I imagined from the description but that's better than predictability, I suppose. I would definitely recommend it!

One of my favourite books
I had this book in hardback a few years ago and lost it because I kept lending it to friends. It’s great to be able to listen to it narrated by the author himself. My only disappointment is that this hasn’t been brought to the big screen yet!

Fascinating and harrowing
Riveting story. So many under lying questions. Harrowing, heart warming, sickening. Been a long time since ive read fiction that made me feel so much while enjoying the story. Thanks for another cracking read

Addictive!
A brilliant modern day version of 'The Count of Monte Christo'. I read it years ago and loved it then but it's even better to have Stephen Fry narrating it. Definitely worth a credit!

The Stars Tennis Balls by Stephen Fry
Well written & excellently performed as we have come to expect from Fry. My only quirk is, I can't help thinking of The Count of Monte Cristo!

Enjoyable but not riveting
What made the experience of listening to The Stars' Tennis Balls the most enjoyable?
The narration was excellent but the plot line not as strong as the Hippopotamus
What does Stephen Fry bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Nuanced reading
Any additional comments?
This was an excellent and enjoyable read, a good storyline. Usual Fry excellence.

Better than expected
I came to this book after reading, and greatly enjoying, the Count of Monte Cristo. I was expecting to be disappointed but was very pleasantly surprised. It was excellent. I have not been a great fan of Stephen Fry in the past but now feel I must revise my opinion.

A modern take on the count of monte cristo which Fry delivers wonderfully. An absolute must read, a gem of a book.
