Great guide for a more peaceful life

This book takes an ancient philosophy of stoicism and applies it to our modern life as a way to reduce stress, find our purpose, and feel happier and more peaceful. As a coach and psychologist, I've read a lot about personal development, yet this book still shed new light on this topic. I liked the concept of negative visualization as a way to prepare our minds for possible negative occurrences and to feel grateful for what we do have. We're often taught to do positive visualizations as a way to manifest what we want, while that is useful, it doesn't address the fact that we all have this fearful part of us that will always be there, so this negative visualization is a great way to calm that part of us. I also like the journal prompts, a great way to put the teachings of the book into practice. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to implement habits to live a happier and more peaceful life!

Focus on what you can control

I remember reading about stoicism at University years ago. This audiobook helped me to gain a clear understanding of the key principles behind the idea. The main takeaway for me was that you should focus on only what you can control in life. Once you have understood this concept, the rest of the guide becomes much easier to understand and implement. It was indeed a valuable introduction to the topic.

Timeless ideas to live by

I have heard of stoicism before, but I didn't really know what it was. I learned so much from this book. This book presented what stoicism is in a very clear and understandable way. And the wisdom in here really hit home. It is so cool that these are teachings from ancient people, but it is so relevant to our lives today. Really timeless information.

A great guide to find peace in the middle of chaos

The narrator in this audiobook points out that life today is complicated and tough. Our society seems to be falling apart with big issues like political divisions, families breaking down, news that's super one-sided, and debates like pro-life or pro-choice. But the audiobook tells us that 2000 years ago, in ancient Greece, things were also really tough, and that's when Stoicism, a life philosophy, came about. It's all about dealing with life's problems in our personal lives.

From those ancient times, Stoics like Zeno, Epictetus, Seneca, and Marcus Aurelius left behind their thoughts and ideas, which we can still use today. This philosophy is important to me. If you want to find a way that helps you in your own life, do yourself a favor and listen to this book. You might end up becoming a Stoic yourself!

A Life-Changing Book on Stoicism

I have recently been learning more about the philosophy of Stoicism through personal research on the internet, first exposed in college and recently via youtube videos. When I saw this guide to a peaceful life, I just had to give it a listen!

There is so much to learn from the timeless writings of philosophers like Marcus Aurelias and Epictetus from centuries past. Few people know of Stoic beliefs, but they are so relevant that they apply so well to our current lifestyles. This book provides effective ways to deal with our anxieties. Learning how to apply these teachings to our daily lives can bring us to have more meaning and even, happiness, to our lives.

simple but effective

I loved this book, especially the journal prompts and 'quizes' to help you check in with yourself. very useful and something I will be doing again and again to help cultivate a healthy mindset. I would recommend this book to all.
