About this listen

The joyful and escapist Sunday Times bestseller about three women searching for friendship in a beautiful seaside town

The sparkling seaside village of Merle Bay, with its beautiful beach scattered with sea glass, is a place where anyone can have a fresh start.

For Katie, it is the perfect hideout after a childhood trauma left her feeling exposed. For Robyn, the fresh sea air is helping to heal her scars, but maybe not her marriage. For Grace, a new start could help her move on from a heartbreaking loss. When they meet on Sea Glass Beach one day, they form an instant bond and soon they're sharing prosecco, laughter—and even their biggest secrets...

Together, the women feel stronger than ever before. So can their friendship help them face old fears and find happy endings—as well as new beginnings?

I loved this story about 3 women who meet on a beach and become friends. Their stories are relatable and empowering and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. One of my favourite narrators.

WonderfulJ

Such a heartwarming story of friends, coming together, and women, finding their strength, when faced with immense trauma and troubles in their lives. Katie, Robin, and Grace are three inspiring women, and although none of them need a man by their side, it was nice to see them finding or rediscovering love.

NO SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW:

What a cracking book! The story, the characters & the perfect voices for each of them, has given me an enormous boost at a time when I really needed it. It’s a lovely original story, which can’t be easy in a space packed with so much writing talent; all women, I have to add!

The different strands of the story - 3 main characters plus a brilliant cast of extras that are woven together beautifully - eventually knit together perfectly, along with lots of little added extras, to arrive at the uplifting conclusion. But of course there are so many lovely little storylines that can be followed up in future & I desperately hope that they are because I can’t wait to see what happens to each of the characters & relationships!

I defy any woman with a heart not to love it from the start; it carried me along on a rollercoaster of emotions, never lingering in any space for too long, happy or sad, plus it made me laugh out loud regularly, particularly with one or two of the strongest characters - age being no barrier to impact!

It might also appeal to men who are in touch with their emotions & perhaps could be interested in a deeper understanding of women’s relationships & how we help & support each other, no matter how many of us have problems of our own to resolve. This is part of the multitasking skill of which women are so proud; that we can juggle the often demanding & needy support of our partners, our careers, the administration of the household, the logistics & emotional support of our children & other family members, as well as supporting our friendships by keeping on top of each of the girls’ lives, with their ups & downs, so that we are there for each other.

Enjoy!!
