About this listen
The third and final updated edition of David Attenborough’s classic Life trilogy. Life on Earth covered evolution, Living Planet , ecology, and now The Trials of Life tackles ethology, the study of how animals behave.
‘This is, quite simply, the best thing I’ve ever done.’ Sir David Attenborough on the TV series, The Trials of Life, upon which this book is based.
This is the third and last of Sir David’s great natural history books based on his TV series and competes his survey of the animal world that began with Life on Earth and continues with Living Planet.
In Life on Earth, Sir David showed how each group of animals evolved. In Living Planet he looked at the way they have adapted to the whole range of habitats in which they live. Now, in Trials of Life, he completes the story by revealing how animals behave – and why.

Once again David Attenborough shows why he's the undisputed master of the natural history documentary.

Seriously, do you expect anything less?
The customary insight, voice and foresight that we have all grown up with and come to respect.

The most important aspect is the ability of life to change.
I was just overwhelmed by all the information. David Attenborough is so knowledgeable and his voice is lovely and I didn’t want to stop listening. Just a wonderful book.

Third great book in series
As good as previous two. Sometimes some same stories told of amazing creatures but I don’t mind that as they are so interesting.
One of the earlier books had soundscapes at the beginning of each chapter which aren’t in this one sadly. DA did one impression of an animal noise and wish he’d have done more. As there are no photos on audible books I found myself looking up a lot of things online so I could see them. Would like to also watch the series on video format/ box set. But very happy with the audiobooks as it’s lovely to go to bed with David Attenborough ;) or his soothing voice anyway.
