Summary

The irrepressible, audacious defence barrister Horace Rumpole whose court scenes are proverbial, and whose home is ruled by Mrs Rumpole, is back in these short stories by John Mortimer. The much loved stories were adapted from his scripts for the hugely popular TV series of the same name.

As superb as usual

Bill Wallis does a masterful job of reading these Rumpole books, he’s up there with Timothy West which for me is very high praise.

A perfect voice for Rumpole

I love this title. The stories are witty and clever and Bill Wallis provides a perfect voice for Rumpole.

Beautifully written.

It is such a pleasure to listen to these stories that I could not put them down. I found myself sitting in the dark so I could hear the denoumont of another great case for the obstinate Horace Rimpole.

The Trials of Rumpole

All John Mortimer's books in the Rumpole series are absolutely brilliant and the best ones are read by Bill Wallis, which this one is. These tales will make you laugh out loud and they are a good antidote for the winter blues!

Far funnier than I thought

Vaguely remember this was a tv program when I was growing up but it didn’t interest me at the time. Having now come across this as an audiobook I thought I would give it a try as an adult and surprised at how funny these stories are, cleverly wound around light court room drama. Will definitely be listening to more Rumpole stories and recommend anyone with a spare credit or if you can get one in the Audiable sale, grab it and be prepared to laugh out loud.
