Summary
Adrian Mole is an adult. At least that's what it says on his passport. But living at home, clinging to his threadbare cuddly rabbit 'Pinky', working as a paper pusher for the DoE and pining for the love of his life, Pandora, has proved to him that adulthood isn't quite what he expected. Still, without the dilemmas of modern life what would an intellectual poet have to write about…

Very odd
Sort of half a book of disjointed timelines. Then dude it starts with the Authors diary, real or imaginary I still don’t know, and then Margaret Thatcher’s diary.
I wasn’t expecting any of that after reading the blurb. I was very confused

Disappointed
Ends very abruptly. Contains only half an Adrian Mole story, the rest are separate stories...

The True confessions of Adrian Mole
Having enjoyed my first Adrian Mole book I bought this one to listen to on a cruise. What a mistake. The first part was real Adrian Mole however the second half of the book was the author's Ego Trip to Russia plus a lot of name dropping.
Now do I risk buying other Adrian book

3 Short Stories
The Adrian Mole story is quite short & ends abruptly. Then there is a Diary from Sue Townsend & then Maggie Thatchers schooldays. All very good but I think the cover & description ought to make this clear.

Not all devoted to Adrian Mole!
Having enjoyed the first two installments of Adrian Mole, this, the third in the series left me disappointed as it is not entirely devoted to the main character. Half the audiobook is, but the last two hours comprise of Sue Townsend's own diary, plus some ramblings from a certain young Margeret Hilda Roberts.
The Adrian Mole part sadly is too short and is not the usual daily diary entries that made the first two books so enjoyably funny. Instead, we are given snapshots into the main events of Adrian's life over a five year period. Though, still hilarious, I felt it would have been a lot better if we did not miss out on large chunks of Adrian's latter teenage years.
The non-Adrian Mole material, though not that bad once you start listening to it, does not sit well here. I am at loss as to why the author chose to include it here! The Sue Townsend piece was quite engaging, and the young Margeret Thatcher parody had some priceless moments, but really both should have been published elsewhere.
Still, the performances from all three narrators were commendable, and helped to make the best of the material here.

The True Confessions Of ...
The main issue concerning this hybrid collection of Adrian Mole, Sue Townsend and Margaret Hilda Roberts diaries is that it's a bit of an odd combo. I personally loved the Mole chapters, although the timeline jumped around a little. Townsend's own diaries were excellent and laugh out loud funny in places. As for the 'Young Mrs Thatcher' chapters, well, a clever satires, but about as subtle as a sledgehammer. I would have liked to see more Mole and less 1980s political comment if I'm honest.
I would have preferred to have heard Nicholas Barnes as Mole; Anna Bentinck and Harriet Carmichael were both fabulous narrators though.
