About this listen

The year is 1522 and King Henry VIII has been married to Queen Catherine of Aragon for thirteen years. But they have no son. Then Anne Boleyn arrives at the royal court from France accompanied by her maid Margery Hallows. Her remarkable gifts make her the most desirable lady at court. And her extraordinary dresses make her the mirror of fashion. “The Tudor Maid” tells the story of the fascinating woman who captured the heart of a king through the eyes of her seamstress.

This is an average, simplified story of the history of King Henry the 8th’s wives, and QE1. At this point, I gave up. The narrator’s exertions at trying to read in a ‘posh’ English accent became too painful. Her poor pronunciation was irritating. I think the narrator might be American. At best, the narration was strained and spoilt a story that might have been worth persevering with. If you enjoy Alison Weir, Philippa Gregory, etc, don’t waste your life on this one.

Poor narration, average story
