Summary

A foggy night... a lonely country house... and a woman with a gun in her hand quietly surveying the dead body of her husband. It looked like a straightforward case of murder. Or was it?

As the ghosts of an old wrong begin to emerge from the past, the case begins to look anything but straightforward...

First staged at the Duchess Theatre in London in 1958, this play ran for 604 performances and is as gripping and ingenious as you would expect from the Queen of Crime.

very clever!

I had never heard of this one by Agatha Christie, but I do now! Very cleverly written, and well portrayed. I do so love these dramatisation!

Typical Christie!

I heard this in black and white, it had that sort of sound. The only fly in the ointment was the whiny voice of the child, but I suppose that's how they were portrayed when this was dramatised. As I did, you will no doubt have the culprit pinpointed way before the end but that does not detract from the neatness of this pure Christie plot.

Superb performance and great story !

I am a great fan of Agatha Christie but somehow I did not know this play. It is excellent, and was turned into a novel by Charles Osbourne.
This is the play. Many unexpected twists of the story. I am quite good in predicting the turn out but I was suprised at the end.
Fantastic to listen. So well acted.

Brilliant sleight-of-hand

A brilliantly deceptive play, excellently dramatised, with Mrs Christie again using her talents for misdirection.
