About this listen

If you want to discover the captivating history of the Victorian era, then pay attention....

When Queen Victoria stepped onto the throne of Great Britain and Ireland in 1837, gone were the days when the monarch had supreme authority over the kingdom. Victoria ruled at the head of a government with which she was meant to converse, debate, and ultimately guide, and it was a job she sometimes struggled to perform. Victoria described herself as an emotional creature and blamed her gender for what she believed were her shortcomings as a monarch.

Truly intimate

Covering her life from her birth to the end of her life, this book truly was an intimate biography, and I feel as though I have come out of this biography with a renewed love for this Queen Regnant.

well written historical experience

It is a book not only on Victoria, but especially on her husband; without his opinions and decisions she may not have been such a successful queen. It is the best book I have read on the history of the so-called Victorian age.

A comprehensive factual presentation of all that

Victoria was an amazing Queen. She may have been as deeply flawed as all humans are, but for her era, she was a remarkable woman.

Captivating

The newest biography on Queen Victoria, Captivating History's Victoria is a well researched and well written exploration of one of the most famous women who has ever lived- and who is probably known more by the mythology surrounding her and her reign than the reality.
