About this listen

Nothing can prepare you for the secrets of the Villagers.

Olive and Geoffrey are happier than ever. After moving to the countryside to bring up their three young children, they are welcomed with open arms by the friendly and helpful residents of the chocolate-box village.

But beyond the veil of rhododendrons and net curtains, there is something more. Just as Olive is settling in and starting to integrate with the community, she finds out that all is not as it first seemed.

As her discoveries become more and more sinister, Olive begins to fear for her own sanity...and has to make choices that will decide the fate of her family.

The Villagers paints an intriguing picture of a 1950s English country village where not everyone is who they first appear to be.

Light & fun listen

This was a light & fun listen. I say fun it had my emotions working, some sad, some funny, some downright hilarious happenings.
No spoilers from me but look out for the little tomboy amusing & definitely relatable.
The fact these are all family tales and the family is adorable just won me over.
Narrator is very good, clear & timing was spot on.

A Must for Those in Small Villages

I loved this ! Intriguing, interesting and an easy listen. Loved it ! A story of settling into a small village, and realising it's not as idyllic as you first thought - finding out secrets behind the neighbours. A lovely listen, lovely narration and would highly recommend.

Great listening

I liked the main character in the book and her family, this is around the era I grew up in and she could easily have been one of our local neighbours. Great characters and kept me interested throughout. A. J. certainly knows how to bring characters to life.
Looking forward to listening to Book 2 soon.

A Fanciful Tale

Somewhat fanciful, but I did finish it.
My main issue was the errors of things supposedly happening in the early 1950s, particularly the use metric measures when they would have been Imperial.

A bit of good old fashioned gossip.

Various tales from a village in the past that would have shocked in their time. Now they are just enjoyable stories passed down the generations. Worth a listen.
