Summary

Seven years ago, Marlie Jacobson was kidnapped by a serial killer - and lived to tell about it. But it was actually her mother who told the story, in a best-selling book that made Marlie famous. Today, she's known as the girl who slew a killer. The one who got away. Now, there's just one thing Marlie wants to get away from: her past. But when her little sister disappears, her worst fears come rushing back-with a vengeance....

Kenai Michelson is a world-renowned investigator. Dark, brooding, and dangerously good-looking, he's the kind of man Marlie would normally avoid at all costs. But Kenai is her only hope in finding her missing sister. Together, Kenai and Marlie follow a trail of clues that leads them toward the truth - and into each other's arms. As her trust in Kenai grows, so does their fierce connection. But will their desire turn deadly as they close in on a ruthless enemy who's watching their every move?

the narration was spectacular!
Maxine Mitchell knocked this out the park, her creepy male voice was terrifying I got soo lost in her incredible acting skill that I actually jumped when Joe Ardens voice came on , I was lost in this dark twisted story i was oost in Maxines story telling , this story has ALOT of triggers this but my God it was amazing!!
I am away to listen to more from this author and these narrators !!

The watcher!

Good story, good narrators and a worthy read. This story has a bit of everything, violence, fire and a bit of love!

Really??

I’m sorry, so predictable, I listened at double speed just until I confirmed my very early and obvious suspicions. Narration was as good as always, shame about the storyline.

I’m sorry but..

Honestly, this was one of the worst audio and novel content I’ve experienced in a while. I read a lot and listen a lot. Words nearly fail me…
First off re audio, I am sorry to cause offence but the female narrator’s delivery was intensely annoying - and I know she is quite prolific therefore popular - but the only reason I persisted was the hope the delicious tone of Joe Arden would eventually arrive. Well, about 2/3 through I was wondering if I had the wrong book. 🤷🏻‍♀️No sign of Joe till eventually one or two very small chapters. I’d say Joe spoke all of 10 mins in this book. On that note though, how on earth can Joe’s name be placed before MM? Utter nonsense. I might not have liked MM’s narration but she DEFINITELY deserved top billing.
Re content, absolutely plodding and repetitive - female character was pathetic and quite honestly not v intelligent. Male character, see previous notes…no idea of his character. I wouldn’t normally spend the time on leaving this kind of review but am doing so, so you won’t spend your money on it…
