Summary

Here is a timeless tale of waterside Britain that has been loved by generations of children and acclaimed as a classic. The story of Mole, Ratty, Badger, and Toad, and their escapades, whether messing about on the river or poop-pooping in Toad's shiny new car, cannot fail to enchant.

Along the riverbank

This was really enjoyable. The characters are as warm and loveable as I remember from when I was a child. Felt a bit longer than it needed to be in some parts but in a way that just added to the lovely languid atmosphere of the story.

Wonderfully narrated by Mr Hordem who got the characters spot on.

Son loves it

We read Winnie the Pooh with our three year old, and he loves listening to this version of the stories over and over again, and often goes to sleep listening to it. The narration is lovely, not too fast, and the characters voices are easy to tell apart. I find Piglet's voice a bit irritating, but he loves it! Each chapter is separated by some gentle music and easy to navigate too. We're just bought The House at Pooh Corner as well!

A True Classic

There is no other book like this. Completely original, special and beautiful. If you have forgotten TWITW, do yourself a favour and listen to this. It is a real pleasure.

Enjoyable story, wonderfully told

I listened to this to harken back to my childhood and enjoyed it very much. There were parts I had totally missed when younger and the story has some lovely detail. This is obviously an older recording and is a bit crackly/bass heavy in places. Horden’s voice isn’t always clear and I had to listen on a load volume but his expression is phenomenal. Great way to spend a few car journeys.

My favourite book of all time

My favourite book of all time read wonderfully by Michael Hordern. He doesn’t quite capture Toad right for me but nonetheless a wonderful story to listen to.

I often listen to this

I've enjoyed The Wind in the Willows since I was a young child. The narrator, in this Audible version, does a fantastic job bringing the characters and story to life. Great for all ages

Simply wonderful!

This Classic is a great story for children and adults alike, though possibly needs abridging for the youngest, with marvellous descriptiove passages. It is highly amusing to adults, describes, in analogy, a time long gone but recognisable to the more mature amongst us, and is a very shrewd study of human nature.

Wonderful rendition

The old story is so wonderfully told, I felt like sitting at a campside listening to stories in moonlight :).
