Summary

Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows is a delightful children's book that captures the attention of listeners of all ages. Set in England, Grahame brings animals to life for an adventure full of mishaps and lessons. One of the main characters in the story, Mole, befriends the water vole, Rat. Together, they explore the beautiful landscape of England by boat and eventually leading to a visit with Toad.

Although Toad is a friendly creature, he has a bad habit of getting himself in trouble. After taking up various hobbies, Toad decides that motor vehicles are the best form of transportation. Mole and Rat soon realize that they must put an end to Toad's wild ambitions, because they care about him and want to save his life.

Badger, the kind and wise one from the woods, helps them to come up with a way to help Toad. Through many more misadventures and failed attempts to keep Toad out of trouble, Toad is caught and arrested by police for stealing a motor vehicle. Luckily, he is able to escape from prison and reunite with his friends. The contrite fellow then discovers that while he was gone, his home was over taken by weasels.

The three friends must go on this one last quest to regain Toad's home before they can live happily ever after.
