Ruiz begins by explaining that contrary to the stereotypical image of "witchdoctor", the ancient shamans were men and women who fulfilled several roles within their communities: philosopher, spiritual guide, medical doctor, psychologist, and friend.

Powerful insight, at the right time in my life
I am currently studying shamanism and reading lots of different books along side my study with my teachers.
I found this book because of the 4 agreements which my teacher gave to me very early on in my journey.
I found the fables and teachings very insightful and helpful in ways more than I imagine were intended.
I have recently been through a series of bereavements which have impacted my life and listening to the wisdom of the shamans have given me the prefect message at the perfect time, to remember that I am not dead, I need to learn to celebrate those who are no longer here by living my life to the full and also by learning to love and accept myself fully.
A short but powerful book with great insights that will no doubt help anyone struggling with self love or loss.

Perfect for your spiritual journey

My favourite Don Ruiz’s book
Loved all the Don Ruiz’s family books but this one by Don Jose Ruiz is my favourite. I curl up and read it and go right back home. There just something about this book that awakens something up within me. Love the stories and the techniques have massively helped myself and others I have used it on. I used one of the techniques on someone who was having panic attacks, they are no longer having attacks and it also helped them overcome their fear of dogs to the point they now have a huge dog. Beautiful written book with great practical tools that anyone can use.
