About this listen

From the bestselling parenting experts behind The Whole-Brain Child comes a highly successful plan for helping your child become more independent and resilient.

Children can often act out or shut down when faced with a setback or a tricky issue like homework, food or screen time. This is what acclaimed parenting experts Dr Siegel and Dr Bryson call the ‘No Brain’ response. But you can help your child develop the ability to cope, solve their own problems and thrive by nurturing their ‘Yes Brain’.

Drawing on their successful work with thousands of parents and children from all backgrounds, Dr Siegel and Dr Bryson provide the advice, tools and activities to help parents with children of all ages.

This is what the ‘Yes Brain’ approach looks like in action:
*A 5-year-old boy thinks about his first day at school and says, ‘I’m nervous but I’ll give it a try.’
*An 8 year-old girl says, ‘I’d like to join the football team, even though none of my friends like football.’
*A 14 year-old boy looks at a test he’s earned a D- for and says, ‘That’s not the mark I wanted but it’s not the end of the world. I’ll ask the teacher how I can improve.’

One of the best books for mindful parenting

This is indeed one of the best books I have read on mindful parenting. It's so good that it needs digesting. I will take a break and then come back to it a few times. Children will thank us in years that we have read this book!

Practical information well presented

Really helpful information, presented in a down to earth and practical way. I will listen to this over again - complicated concepts are presented but all of them, well worth taking the time to grasp. I will use this both in my own parenting and in my professional work with children.

Wisdom for parents - simple, clear & full of heart

Where does The Yes Brain Child rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

All Dan Siegel's books are excellent.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The three zones and how to help our children develop resilience and empathy are really helpful.

What about Daniel J Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson ’s performance did you like?

Dan's compassion and humanity shine through. It's not easy to recognize what's going on and respond appropriately to our children in every moment of every day; Dan & Tina acknowledge this and provide positive encouragement.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Take a breath; building resilience & relationship

Any additional comments?

Kudos to Dan Siegel - I've been following his work for a few years now. Parenting is challenging and rewarding, it's also sometimes bewildering ..... Dan's work has been an invaluable part of my journey.

Quick, clear and practical.

"The Yes Brain Child" is a concise and practical guide on teaching kids how to handle difficult moments and feel more empowered. I loved the book and learned much for my own personal growth, not only how to help and empower my son.
