Hesiod
About this listen
The Greek poet, Hesiod, stands out as the first personality in European literature. The Theogony contains a genealogy of the gods from the beginning of time and an account of their violent struggles before the present order was established. The Works and Days, a compendium of advice for a life of honest husbandry, shines a unique and fascinating light on archaic Greek society, ethics, and superstition. Hesiod's poetry is the oldest source of the myths of Prometheus, Pandora, and the Golden Age.

Better as a written text than an audiobook.
Hesiod's Theogony is the oldest account we have of the ancient Greek creation myths. In that much, this book is timeless and a fantastic look into ancient history and it's writers. However, in terms of a performance piece (read aloud to the reader) you'd be much better off listening to a more contemporary adaptation of the stories. Stephen Fry's Mythos and Heroes excel in that regard. There performance itself is serviceable, though there are a few noticeable points where the reader makes mistakes and repeats herself.
