Summary

Before he was the charismatic singer of Black Veil Brides and an accomplished solo artist under the Andy Black moniker, he was Andrew Dennis Biersack, an imaginative and creative kid in Cincinnati, Ohio, struggling with anxiety, fear, loneliness, and the impossible task of fitting in.

With his trademark charm, clever wit, and insightful analysis, Biersack tells the story of his childhood and adolescence and the discovery of the artistic passions that would shape his life, and his decision to move to Hollywood after his 18th birthday to make his dreams come true, even when it meant living in his car to make it all a reality. It's the origin story of one of modern rock's most exciting young superheroes, from building miniature concerts with KISS action figures in his bedroom to making the RIAA gold-certified single "In the End" and connecting with passionate fans worldwide.

Awesome, a real joy to listen to!

I think all books should be narrated by the author, where possible. Hearing Andy read the account of his life thus far bought a true reality and meaning to the words being read. It truly bought the book to life. The content itself was raw and unapologetic. A great insight of highs and lows that I feel privileged to hear.

Incredible

I’m a newer fan to this band and was intrigued when i found out that andy wrote a book. It’s amazing I really love this book. The insight from the start of his career to 2020 is so incredible and inspiring.

Didn’t know you could relate to a book so much

I don’t know if I ever pictured a book that meant so much to me. Reading this felt like reading a book by a close friend, by my own soul and by an icon. Incredible read for those who love Andy/Black Veil Brides and fellow emo pals, but also just a wonderful insight about a pretty cool human. This book tears down any status divide, creates a leveller with the reader and just feels honest and lovely. The way he talks about his family, wife, love and life is pure.
I never knew Andy had OCD, and I’ve never read a book which is from someone with OCD, but this makes me feel so normal and unalone in a beautiful way. It’s not about that in any sense, but the brief mentions are so touching as you see how Andy lives with OCD and weaves it into his life. Honestly, very glad this exists and has been a part of my life.

Beautiful and honest. Interesting and inspirering.

I loved every second of this book. Andy has always been an inspiration ever since i found him and his band with the song legacy, that is where i enteted Andys world. this story of his life and struggles, his honesty of who he is, has brought me closer and made me realise, it really is good and ok to be diffetent.

Brilliant story, well read & enjoyable

Andy’s story is one that is very relatable & not without it’s fair share of setbacks. That he’s so honest & painfully articulate throughout his telling of his story should be a benchmark other rock biographies should take a note from. I first heard of his band Black Veil Brides on 2011 when posters of his band were plastered all over Download 2011 & I saw them play from a distance.

He’s an extremely smart & intelligent musician as well as a decent human being on how he balances all of the relationships in his life, especially the one with his wife Juliet.

Very well read & not particularly long, under 6 hours. Highly recommend!!! Rock on.
