About this listen

The deceptively simple three-phase method presented here is a meditation practice that can be worked with for a lifetime. Larry Rosenberg looks to Zen, to Insight Meditation, and to the teachings of J. Krishnamurti to find three kinds of meditation that anyone can do and that complement each other in a wonderful way: (1) breath awareness, (2) breath as anchor, and (3) choiceless awareness. Having the three methods in one's repertoire gives one meditation resources for any life situation. In a time of stress, for example, one might use breath awareness exclusively. Or on an extended retreat, one might find choiceless awareness more appropriate. The three-step method has been taught to Larry's students at the Cambridge Meditation Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, for many years. After teaching the three-step method, Larry goes on to show how to bring the awareness gained in meditation to the world off the cushion, into relationships and into all areas of daily life.

Excellent

Many of the ideas I'd heard from public speakers like Sam Harris and Jon Kabat Zin are explored here in wonderful depth. listening to this book often lead me to some deeper connections to the present, both on and off the meditation cushion.

If you feel unsure about what you're doing when you meditate or you have some questions, I wager you'll find answers here.

There's so much wisdom in this book

So many great insights and new ways of seeing things. One of the best books on meditation and awarenesses I've heard. Great with the "questions" and "answers" as they were relatable. Smart and intelligent thought processes which were easy to follow. Will relisten many times as there's so much wisdom in here. The narrator had a suitable voice and rythm for the book.

Lots to take in, but take in what you need.

Well narrated and thoroughly enjoyed. Lots of content here, but I was able to take certain bits that were relatable to my own. Circumstances.

Worth a listen!

Great book

This is a great book that will help any beginner meditator. The book creates a foundation in how to practice and describes each stage in way that is easy to understand. I will listen to this book more than once and will also buy a hard copy for later reading.

Superb.

In my humble opinion, this book, along with Larry’ s Breath By Breath are two of the very best books on mindfulness you can find. They are full of the most accessible instruction on meditation and the day to day use of it in life. This is probably the fifth time I have listened to this. Thank you Larry.

short and sweet in comparison to other books I've listened to... well worth listening to if you're on a meditation journey... Will hopefully open up more avenues and a better understanding

Good book. Bad narrator.

I had listened to Breath by Breath, and have enjoyed the narration very much.
Here the narrator mispronounces words, and has trouble with where to put the emphasis.
Too bad.
