About this listen
Dr. Grant Delaney’s life is nothing but hook ups and one offs before a mutual friend introduces him to a certain California firefighter. Now, that’s all Grant thinks about. After three months of facetiming each other, they decide to meet. Then, the man he grows to care about takes off into the night without a word or reason, leaving Grant questioning his own worth like he has done for most of his life.
Over hearing a conversation between Grant and his friend, Robert Burke assumes the doctor isn’t ready to hear the news he’s been keeping for three months. As a parent, Robert has to consider of his son first. His feelings about the doctor can wait, especially after what he went through with his cheating ex.
Trust and honesty are what these men strive for in their lives. But broken words, secrets, and the past will test their journey at every turn before they get a chance at love.

A sexy, bumpy ride!
After months of online chats, Chicagoan Dr Grant Delaney can’t wait to meet hunky Californian fireman, Robert Burke. Unfortunately, through poor communication and not giving each other the benefit of the doubt, the course of true love is bumpier than a domestic flight in a firestorm! Grant and Robert walk away from each other twice, can they get their act together on the third try? This novella really covered a lot of ground, packing in the storylines and the drama - I felt like I’d listened to a much longer book and I was never bored! Failure to communicate can be a frustrating trope but CJ Warrant uses a lot of steamy chemistry to make it work and I liked these two reactive guys a lot. I also liked new-to-me audio narrator Christopher Sapienza, he threw his heart and soul into this story, hitting every emotion so well! (This is a voluntary review of an audio ARC)

Robert and Grant
Both the author and the narrator were new to me. I enjoyed the writing style and am looking forward to reading more of the author's books.
When Robert and Grant meet, they have great chemistry. But little do they know how difficult a long distance relationship can be. Then a few misunderstandings come up and things get complicated. I really liked the two of them, they are both sympathetic. Grant is a doctor, Robert is a firefighter and he has a son that he is very connected to, which I liked. And for him, his son always comes first.
The story was interesting and entertaining. There were sometimes heartwarming moments, sometimes exciting ones and also sometimes sad scenes. Grant and Robert had to fight hard for their happy ending.
Christopher Sapienza did a good job as narrator. I could tell the characters apart well and he brought the book to life with his performance.

Wonderful book!
I connected with Robert and Grant immediately and I was reallly invested in their story. Those two went through a lot and had to work hard to get to their happily ever after but when they finally did it was beautiful. They had amazing chemistry and they were wonderful people that just needed to work a bit on their communication. They grew a lot as characters and I love it when that happens in a book. I also really enjoy books about single parents and the relationship between Robert and his son was beautiful. The narrator was brilliant and brought the story and the characters to life beautifully. I felt like I was watching a movie. Really amazing!
