Summary
Thrown Away Child is a memoir covering Louise Allen’s abusive childhood in a foster home, how she survived - using her love of art as a sanctuary - and how she hopes to right old wrongs now by fostering children herself and campaigning for the improvement of foster care services. It is a compelling and inspirational story. This book gives a voice to the many children who grew up unhappily in care.

Heart wrenching
How can these despicable so called ‘carers’ get away with what they do - we can only hope they eventually rot in hell.

The strength to survive
I am not sure i could show the compassion louise did towards her foster mother later on but was glad she was able to walk away at the end, with her head and heart at peace. No children should live through...if they survive...the painful abuse as Louise has but it reminds us of the amazing strength children somehow find in saving themselves, too often by themselves. Thank-you for sharing your story, Louise....

A harrowing life of a child
I really enjoyed this book because whilst is was about how a little girl was abused in many ways it also show the strength she had as she got older.

absolutely brilliant
A honest gritty and harrowing story of abuse in all its forms. ultimately a story of strength, understanding and in some ways forgiveness.
This story will stay with me and i thank the author for finding the courage to tell her story xx

A thrown away child that came good
I first read this book in paper back many years ago. I remembered it well
I wasn't aware it was the same book in audio firm.
I am so glad I continued to download it and listened.
Although harrowing at times I was able to understand it much more as I already knew that Louise came good in the end.
I recommend this book especially in audio because it gives you an insight into the pitfalls of the care system and how a little girl managed to crawl out from it.
