About this listen
She's always been off-limits. He's always just out of reach.
Falling in love with Gabe Anderson was as easy as breathing. Fighting my feelings for my brother’s best friend was agonizingly hard. I never imagined giving in to my desire for him would cause such a destructive ripple effect. That kiss was my grasp at a lifeline—something, anything to hold me steady in my crumbling life. Now, I have to suffer with the fallout while trying to convince him it’s all worth the consequences.
Guilt overwhelms me—over what I’ve done, the lives I’ve taken, and more than anything, over my feelings for Skye Hawke. Craving my best friend’s little sister is insanely self-destructive. It never should have happened, but since the moment she kissed me, I haven’t been able to get her out of my mind. If I take what I want, I risk losing everything. If I don’t, I’ll lose her and a piece of myself. The raging storm threatening to rain down on the city is nothing compared to the one that will come from my decision.
Love can be torture, but sometimes, love is the only thing that can save you.
Tortured Skye is the second book in The Hawke Family Series. While it is a complete story, it is not meant to be listened to as a standalone. The story of the Hawke siblings all build on one another and are intertwined. They need to be listened to in order to fully enjoy and understand the plots.

My Thoughts on Tortured Skye
4.5 of 5 stars
Book two in the Hawke family series was just as amazing as book one. I loved Gabe before and even more now. Skye wasn't a character that necessarily endeared herself to me in the first book, but I understood and liked her better in this one.
The struggle that Gabe and Skye faced was deep and emotional. Gabe grew up with the Hawke family and was best friends with the oldest brother, Savage. He knew he should stay away from Skye as she was the baby sister of the family but their attraction couldn't be denied. Skye has always loved Gabe, for as long as she could remember, but never thought she'd get the chance to act on those feelings. Their first kiss changes everything and neither one knows how to go back or if they even can.
I really enjoyed this story. I enjoy this author's writing style. I love the emotional depth her characters show. I love the connection between the characters. My only dislike, minor that it is, was the POV shifts. There was only a little indication that the POV might change, a little break on the page and symbol or new chapter, but that wasn't a guarantee. So sometimes it took me a moment of reading to realize who's perspective I was getting the story from. I wish the name of the person was at the top of the break when it changed POV.
Overall this was a great story with interesting characters and a fantastic plot and flow. I definitely recommend it to lovers of steamy romance with alphas with heart and a heroine with a smart mouth. I feel this story is best enjoyed if Savage Collision is read first.
Listening to the audio was just as good an experience as reading the e-book years ago. The performers definitely did it justice. I fell in love with the series and the characters all over again and can’t wait to listen to the next one.

Skye & Gabe!
Gwyn McNamee is hitting another home run with the second book in her Hawke Family series. This one features Skye, Savage's little sister and his best friend Gabe. Skye has always loved Gabe, ever since she was little and he became "part of the family". Now that she is grown, her feelings haven't changed, and Gabe truly sees her for who she is. But he cannot cross that forbidden line. She is his best friend's little sister, who has had a tough time of it. But can resist? I love this book, not just for the taboo. Skye is a complex woman. Smart, works well under pressure, but she still is having difficulty since the death of her twin. She is a tortured soul and the only person who seems to make her whole is Gabe. Gabe comes with his own set of baggage, and he isn't one to share. These two are the perfect match! I also love the stalker thread that adds that dangerous feel, giving us another layer to the story. Plus we get to see Dani and Savage, which for me always gives me that feeling of family and coming home. I cannot wait until the next installment of this amazing family!
Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman are our storytellers, and at they are fabulous together. Daniels has a voice that when using her inflections can create an incredible character. She builds the layers to Skye and slowly peels them all off using her voice. Emotional and full of love she is a perfect fit. Coleman gives us the older man at least by a few years, who is definitely conflicted. But we know exactly how he feels regardless and he too fills the story with all the feels. It's a great team for this story.

So good
Gabe and Skye had so many ups and downs and their story was not conventional, there were good times and there were dark times.
I didn't know how to feel when I first finished this book, but after sitting on it for a few days I realized that it was so realistic, the things that happened and the things the characters endured/did was realistic, I have been through that and that's what made it so hard to read, but for me that just made the book that much better. I was emotional because of the story and for me that's what makes a book worth reading. I want it to pull the emotions from me and make me feel even if I don't want to.
Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman were on point. They nailed this story and emotions perfectly and I was all about it.

Gabe and Skye.
a story of two tortured souls who are combustible when they come together. Skype has been in love with Gabe since she was 16. He treats her like the little sister. as they weather the hurricane, a deranged psychopath and her brother's disappointment they still find themselves falling in love.
love this story and can't wait for the next book.
amazing narration. Lee didn't amazing as always. Dadh as Gabe.. new to me and I love his voice.

Skye
Amazing dual narration from Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman
This book revolves around the romance between Gabe Anderson and Skye Hawke. It all started with a kiss; Skye has been in love with her brother's best friend Gabe forever. He can't get past the idea of being with someone who he considers his little sister. We have roller coaster of emotions, heat, romance drama, laughs, tears. Perfect

Excellent Story & Narration🎧Gripping & Intense!
Gwyn McNamee pens another amazing romance novel, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book, it also tugged on my heartstrings. The characters are complex, two tortured souls that are perfect together and for each other. Skye Hawke has always had a thing for Gabe Anderson, her older brother’s best friend who became part of their family over the years. Gabe has been Skye’s go to whenever she needed to be bailed out of trouble, and he always came to her rescue without ever telling her brother or family about it. Gabe had a soft spot for Skye, as well as other feelings, but he would never act on them out of respect for Savage, his best friend. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and inevitably, they would give in to it. But guilt prevents him from going any further and he puts a stop to it, which breaks Skye’s heart. But when he fears Skye is in trouble, he thinks he knows where she is and with who, and goes after her, but getting to her is not so easy with the torrential rainstorm and once he gets there, he is in his own trouble. I loved how everything played out in this cleverly plotted story, there is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance. Skye was a pleasant surprise in this book since I did not care for her much in the first book, especially how she treated Danika, Savage’s then girlfriend. Danika was understanding it was her being protective and in this book they are best of friends. I was a little surprised by Savage’s reaction to Gabe and his sister, but then again, Gabe was always a player and he did not want him playing her. Anyway, just my two cents, and I highly recommend reading or listening to the first book before this one, Skye and Gabe, both appear in that book, plus you learn the details of what happened to Savage and Skye’s sister. Gwyn McNamee, thank you for another fantastic story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Gwyn McNamee chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. Lee Daniels and Dash Coleman are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that suited that characters, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into his performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.
