Summary

Treasure Island must be the most enthralling adventure book ever written. As we listen to the voice of Jim Hawkins telling his extraordinary tale, and later that of his companion Dr. Livesey, we are plunged into a world of pirates, buried treasure, mutiny, and deceit. We meet Billy Bones, Blind Pew, Black Dog, and, of course, the charming buccaneer Long John Silver. The action and adventure never falter, and the spell of this enduring story is sustained until the very last word.

"This best-ever adventure story...has the same mesmeric ability to keep you hanging on every word.... It has all that's required of a ripping yarn." ( The Guardian)

Great book, Great narrator

A brilliant narration of a classic boys-own adventure story. Jasper Britton makes the somewhat aged language sing and keeps the excitement going to the very last "pieces of eight". Vivid characterisation, rock-solid accents and great pace.

Superlative rendition of a perennial favourite

The reader sustains the suspense throughout, his mastery of voices for the main characters highly effective and impressive.
