About this listen
Tressa Middleton made UK history when she became Britain's youngest mum in 2006 aged just 12 years and eight months. Her case provoked shock and outrage - but the truth behind the headlines was far sadder than anyone could ever have imagined.
Born into a life of poverty and neglect, Tressa was forced to grow up fast when was she taken into care at just four years old. She was returned to her mother's chaotic world, but by the age of seven, she was being abused by her own brother and at 11 years old she fell pregnant with his child. For years she kept his dark secret in an attempt to hold her family together until the truth threatened to destroy her completely.
In the years since the birth, Tressa has gone through more pain and turmoil than most adults experience in a lifetime - yet today she survives a brave, strong and compassionate young woman. Now, for the first time, Tressa Middleton tells her own harrowing yet poignant story - a story of hope, forgiveness and, above all, love.

Bit of a predictable sob story but....
sympathetically and appropriately performed.
All in all enjoyable although a bit deja vue.
Can't help but think tgat it's just further capitalization of the circumstances.

Sad but entrancing
Brilliant performance by Ruth Urquhart. Sad true story of the slide from neglect and abuse to drug addiction of a little girl who never had a break and who became the youngest mum in UK. A gripping listen if you can get past the abuse.

What a story
It’s hard to believe a child could experience a life like Tessa, I live 30 mins away from where she grew up. Life is so cruel to some people. I hope you live life to the fullest and you have a happy life as you so deserve it. Very sad story indeed

how can you not give this book five stars?
This book is neither well written and it is not always particularly well read but these are Tressa’s words and this is her story. One ought to feel shocked by the events that take plae in this book but, I’m not shocked at all. I know well the depths of depravity in to which humanity can sink. However, this book is certainly not for the faint-hearted and there’s bound to be more than one gasp of horror and disbelief not from me though but from some no doubt of it. If you want to see huumanity in all its gory details then this book is a must. if though, you prefer to sleep in your innocence at night or turn a blind eye to what can happen out there then give it a mis, your illusions that there’s a spark of good in everyone will be well and truly shattered if you’re of this belief.
