About this listen
Who says love can’t show up on your doorstep, completely unexpected?
Quincy
I have a plan, and it doesn’t include falling for the older, hot single dad who convinced me to be his short-term nanny. So, I will leave my small town and my broken heart behind and go back to college.
Or so I told myself.
But now I’m starting to wonder if my plan has room for an unexpected happily ever after....
Knox
To say I was overwhelmed when I found a baby on my doorstep would be an understatement. Quincy saved me when she stepped in to help.
The last thing I need is a no-strings fling with a 20-something woman with her whole life ahead of her. I should walk away, no matter how much I want her.
But I don’t. Now, I need to figure out how to let her go when the time comes. Preferably without breaking her heart. Or mine....

I enjoyed the single dad plot and how Knox came to love and take care of baby Juniper. Quincy and Juniper together was cute. Knox getting to know his family and becoming a dad was great. The narrators were great and quite a lot of fun.

Carly as Quincy really gave her the jovial voice one would expect from a younger h, specially compared with a more matured voice like Ryan’s. Quincy was young, sweet and clumsy but loved by everyone. She adores children and has always been drawn to them so she has decided to follow her dream and go to college to be a teacher.
Quincy’s and Knox’s journey to HEA was full of forbidden & secret smex and lots and lots of chemistry in and out of the bedroom.
I loved every minute of this audiobook.

Ryan West, what a voice! I little gruff, but so sweet he falls into Knox's character with ease. Knox has a lot on his plate, and West figures out each emotion, whether it's lust or love, frustration or passion. Carly Robins comes in with her perfect voice for Quincy. She gives her a feeling of understanding and warmth, the best kind of emotions for her. Together they created a performance that filled me up and made me happy.

Quincy had put her life on hold, but it was time for her to pursue her dream of teaching. What she didn’t expect was to fall in love with an adorable baby or to develop feelings for her father. Now she is torn about the future she planned and what it means for her, Knox and Juniper.
Despite the age difference and all the reasons that Knox feels they shouldn’t be together their hearts don’t agree. The narrators did a wonderful job sharing their heartwarming journey as they brought out all the romance, emotion and personalities of the characters.

🎧📚🎧And for the fabulous narration, Ryan West and Carly Robbins were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life. They understood the characters they were portraying, giving each a voice that suited that character completely and were believable in every role they played. West nailed it as Knox, grasping every aspect of his personality, and Robbins did the same for Quincy. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. It is a pleasure to listening to these entertaining storytellers take this already incredible story to another level. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Unexpected is the fourth book in the Henry series and it picks up from the ending of the third book (although this can be read as a standalone). After the news that Knox dropped at the ending of the third book about being related to the Henry family, things get even more complicated when he unexpectedly finds that a baby has been left in his car. Turns out he is the father of 5-month-old baby Juniper (that he didn’t know about). Having never looked after or dealt with babies before, he seeks the help of Quincy who helped raise her younger half-siblings and loves looking after kids. Quincy is a clumsy waitress who works at the Henry restaurant but after witnessing how good she is with babies, Knox asks her to be his temp nanny.
This book just provided all the feels! I loved the chemistry and connection that Quincy and Knox had. As Quincy and Knox get to know each other, they feel a connection. However, the fact that Knox is so much older than Quincy; now has a new life that includes his daughter; and he doesn’t want to possibly start something with his nanny, for so many reasons, creates that ‘will they-wont they’ tension.
Another thing I loved about this book was its exploration of how some of the Henry family dealt with the news of Knox’s biological father and how he was related to them. We also got to see him start bonding with, and getting to know his dad and his brothers.
I also loved how all the characters from previous books in this series, as well as, other series in the Amy Knupp universe was woven into this book. This small town is just too cute and I love how everyone is just so loving towards each other, always there to help, and is so welcoming.
Overall, this was just a cute, sweet story. If you enjoy any of these tropes; small-town, age-gap, single dad, nanny romances, then I highly suggest you pick this up.
I listened to this on audio and it was narrated by Ryan West and Carly Robins. Both narrators did excellently with Knox and Quincy respectively. Their voices fit the characters, and complemented each other perfectly. I truly enjoyed their performances!
