Fast paced and such a great take on supernatural and fantasy brilliant

Absolutely loved this audiobook. It had me desperately wanting to listen to it when I just couldn’t!
The story just didn’t stop it was fast paced & so different. Vampires aren’t just run of the mill and the doorways to other places are fab. I love the weaving and mixing of old, new, creatures etc
I don’t want to give anything away, so hard to not spill it all though!
The narrator was great too, very nice voice, good tempo and with a name like Hannibal how could he not be cool!
I Have the ebook as well and I will be reading it some time soon as the story really grabbed me.

Great fun and not a sparkle in sight

This is an intriguiging but complex first installment in what I believe is to be a trilogy. It's a little complicated at the start due to there being many characters involved with various plotlines that need to be woven together, so you have to keep up and fit those pieces together before you'll be rewarded with the big picture which is worth waiting for. It's a little bit ''Dark Tower'' with portals between worlds, and a little bit ''30 Days of Night'' with ugly vampires who like tearing humans apart.

The narration from Mr Hills is great, some of his characterisations are marvellous, I especially love Katherine's west country accent.

I received my copy free of charge in exchange for my frank and honest review which is what I've given above and now I'm off to listen to book two.

Overall enjoyable story. Great narrator

I really enjoyed the narration by Hannibal Hills. He faded so much into the background that all I registered were the various voices of the characters. Though I'm convinced that the Brummies sound more Sheffield than Brum, but that could just be me. For a first listen to a narrator I settled very quickly.

Overall I enjoyed the story but got a bit confused during the first few chapters where it jumped between times as I felt it was not always clear which timezone we were in and who we were with. I know the stories were running along different lines but it took a while for me to connect them. This seemed to fade more as the book went on. I really liked the actual story and the way the world was set up and the species within it. I am looking forward to seeing how it carries on in the next book...

Painful narration.

I'm afraid I gave up, due to the torturously slow narration and the patronising delivery by the narrator.

What If ?

What if there are other worlds ?
What if there are doors connecting worlds and times ?
What if anyone or anything can come through the doors ?
Not your usual glorified Hollywood portrayal of Vampires these are the Vampires of your nightmares. I really enjoyed this and am going to be reading book 2 The Turning soon . Hannibal Hills does a great job at narrating.
