Summary
From USA Today best-selling author Marley Valentine comes a brand-new emotional, second chance, gay romance.
Two halves of a whole, Arlo Bishop and I were both unwanted kids brought together by the foster system. Dealing with the aftermath of neglect and abandonment, we grew up side-by-side and found solace in one another.
We wanted.
We needed.
We loved.
Desperately.
But somewhere along the way, Arlo wanted and needed and loved drugs more. So I did the only thing I could and broke my own heart to save his.
Now, four years later, I’m back in L.A. and face-to-face with my past. Not only does the pain and hurt of our mistakes linger between us, but so do our feelings.
I didn’t plan on a second chance, fear of history repeating itself making it hard to forgive and even harder to forget. But with only one touch, one kiss, I was taken back to where it all started.
Two halves of a whole, Arlo Bishop and I were made for for each other. But we were no longer the unwanted foster kids.
We were grown men.
And I wanted nothing more than him.
Unwanted is book one in a brand-new, emotional LGBTQ+ series that follows a group of foster siblings who are banded together by their pasts. Each book can be listened to as a complete stand-alone.

Oh my heart
I loved loved loved this book, my heart took a beating with this one, Marley has done it again. It brings unwanted kids that were in the system to adulthood, a love story and a heartbreak story. Love an MM read.
Jacob Morgan and Zachary Johnson were the perfect combo for this listen!

A bit disappointing
Both story and acting a little bland. The story didn’t seem to go anywhere and there weren’t really any high stakes. The voice actors sounded a little bored and a lot of the characters sounded the same. Not my favourite.

YA Ensemble Piece Not M/M?
Zachary Johnson (4/5) was so good in the prologue which did the emotional heavy lifting for the book!! As for the rest of his performance, ZJ added vocal cracks, rise and falls, played with pauses - more artistry, really - and flexed his rich timbre. Gorgeous! Unfortunately, Johnson's chesty resonance highlighted more than usual, the single dimension and slightly nasal quality to Jacob Morgan's vocals. Jacob (1/5) also tended to monotony with longer sentences or dialogue runs. Regardless, this is one of the better duel narrations. Both narrators have deep voices that they controlled well; their character portrayals were cohesive; their pacing matched; and their production quality was consistent.
📚 Unwanted turned out to be an ensemble piece on YA foster siblings grappling with addiction, abandonment, sexual awakening, hearing loss and rejection. The MM relationship was incidental with the first romance being off page and hardly referenced. To whit the prologue had an addict being taken to rehab and the epilogue was a support group meeting. It is just as well l enjoyed the narrators because l sure as hell didn't care for Frankie | Arlo.
