About this listen
What would you do if you awoke without memory, crucified, and on the brink of death?
Varnoth, a shadow panther, must struggle to survive in the cruel world of Albattara. He must use his natural-born skills in this fantasy LitRPG to explore the land, complete quests, conquer dungeons, craft potions, destroy terrifying monsters, and find answers to his questions:
Who is he?
Why was he crucified?

It's ok
I was given a code for this book, where by I promised to leave an honest and voluntary review on audible once I'm done.
it was ok, not the best though. The foul language was a bit much for me, I'm no prude but it was too much.
It's not a bad story as LITRPG goes,
The narration was great, brought the characters to life, probably the only reason i finished the book.

Promising start to series
At times, this book tends towards the darker end of the fantasy spectrum, with the author seeming to want to take the grittier feel of that end while maintaining a reasonable amount of hopefulness and it mostly works out quite well, although a lighter touch on the random escalations would probably improve subsequent books in the series.
This book is more overt than some in the genre when it comes to acknowledging the quest progression structure within the game world with the main character literally asking people for quests rather than always ending up on one in a more organic fashion, it is an interesting choice that works well. Another notable thing with this book is that it feels more like a single-player game than an mmo, there's little indication of anyone else in the game is levelling or progressing like the main character, who also seems to be a little on the overpowered side for his level for much of the book.
The narrator's performance was a good one, dramatic tones serving to enhance the story and cast quite nicely.
Overall, an interesting start to this series, it will be interesting to see where the author takes it next.

decently written litrpg with a minor flaw or 2.
The book is nicely written and flows decently, while somewhat crude language is used occasionally it doesn't distract too much.
The one flaw is that the character is supposed to have memory loss, which makes little sense in litRPG.
Narration by Jack Voraces is well done, characters stand out well and moves well except minor overpronounciation at the start.

A focus on leveling
I recieved a review copy of this book which I enjoyed very much. The story and characters are interesting whilst the narrator is an excellent choice.
The book masks the background of the main character, even from himself, which keeps the nature of the story mysterious. However, the character accepts the mechanics of the world immediately and without apparent question which somewhat undermines this. There also appears to be strong focus on leveling and gaining statistics, but these almost feel unearned due to the rate in which the character levels. This was relatively minor though and did not take away from my enjoyment of the book.

New genre
I've only listened to maybe one other LitRPG. As much as I tried the story didn't pull me in but that could be me not really gelling with the genre. If you like LitRPG you may like it. It just wasn't my cup of tea. On another note I liked the narrator and his passion.

DNF, overly dramatic narrator.
As a disclaimer, I received this book through a promo-code, with the condition I leave a honest review.
I tried to get through it 3 times before giving up. I managed to get through about an hour before the narrators unnecessary dramatics, like being super exited about climbing tree's, calculations and all sorts of minor things killed my ability to endure.
If it was just the narrator, I'd be able to deal if the story compensated for it. During the hour I listened, the protagonist got rescued from a goblin, climbed a few tree's, killed a few animals, explored a dark cave and walked up on two "Goons" planning the graphic rape of two women... Once the women were predictably saved, they get out of the cave and the women decide to tear their dresses into bits to make it easier to navigate the brushes... I got told way more than I wanted about their "assets". If you like women being objectified, maybe this book is for you?
