About this listen

AudioLearn’s Medical School Crash Courses presents Virology

Written by experienced professors and professionally narrated for easy listening, this crash course is a valuable tool both during school and when preparing for the USMLE, or if you’re simply interested in the subject of virology.

The audio is focused and high-yield, covering the most important topics you might expect to learn in a typical medical-school virology course. Included are both capsule and detailed explanations of critical issues and topics you must know to master virology.

The material is accurate, up to date, and broken down into bite-sized sections. There are key takeaways following each chapter to drive home key points and quizzes to review commonly tested questions.

In this course, we'll cover the following topics:

  • Virus foundations
  • Viral infection basics
  • DNA viruses
  • Positive-strand RNA viruses and double-stranded RNA viruses
  • Negative-strand RNA viruses
  • Reverse transcribing viruses and hepatitis viruses
  • Viral mutations
  • Virus epidemiology
  • Subviral infections
  • Virus vectors
  • Persistent viruses and tumor viruses
  • Viral detection strategies and viral therapeutics

We will conclude the course with a comprehensive test containing the most commonly tested questions in virology with the correct answers.

Also included is a follow-along PDF manual containing the entire text of this audio course as well as all the images, charts, and tables we'll be discussing.

To get the most out of this course, we recommend that you listen to the entire audio once while taking notes, then go back and listen to areas you had difficulties with. AudioLearn's Medical School Crash Courses support your studies, help with USMLE preparation, and provide a comprehensive audio review of the topic matter for anyone interested in what medical students are taught in a typical medical-school virology course.

Now, let's get started.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

A little disappointing

The first half was okay but did contain a few minor inaccuracies. The book is not up to date and uses out dated classifications.
Much of the second half of the book seemed irrelevant and certainly could have included much more useful information.
