About this listen

When 25-year-old Sophie Nouveau inherits her grandmother's voodoo shop, she knows nothing about voodoo. Or her family's history of Mind Changers, who have the power to change evil people good. To complicate matters, someone doesn't want Sophie in New Orleans and sends a series of death threats to scare her away from her new enchanted life. Tipped off by her grandmother's ghost, Sophie realizes her mind-changing spell's been missing one magic ingredient: true love. If Sophie cannot experience transformative love, she cannot make her spell work, and she will be powerless to fight back when confronted by the one who wants her dead.

This was a very interesting and thought provoking book, set in the rich and vibrant New orleans and family roots filled with a mysterious voodoo magic. Sophie heads to New Orleans to find out about her deceased grandmother Serafina, she discovers a possible new life filled with family, purpose and new love, she just has to have faith. Not everyone wants her to claim her birth right and an intense love rival adds to the confusion. I really liked loyal and supportive Taj, I found Sophies magnetic attraction to the mysterious Jack worrying, I can't wait for the next book.

Team Taj or Team Jack?!

I received this book free and I am leaving this review voluntarily .

I wasn’t sure about this at first as Audible have it under chick lit and that’s not my scene but it was really really good.

Sophie inherits a Voodoo shop in New Orleans after her Grandmother passes away but she knew nothing about her family or their legacy as Mind Changers.

The concept of a Mind Changer had me pondering what a much better world we would have if their were people that could do this and take someone’s evil side away although I’m not sure I would want all those butterflies sacrificing.
I enjoyed Rachel Music’s narration she did a great job as Taj and Jacks accents .I’m happy to see there is more books to the series and I am hoping they arrive on audible.

Thought provoking!

I knew from the beginning I was going to enjoy this. The narrator has a voice I enjoy listening too.
The beginning introduces us into what to expect. Voodoo, paranormal & other things you will have to read or listen to it to find out.

I have always had a hard time with Voodoo, it scares me to my bones. This was worthy of the scare though. Wonderfully narrated.

Eerie and good.

I very much enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The author strikes the perfect balance between character development, the evolution of personal relationships, and the action at the center of the novel. Voodoo Butterfly works well as an introduction to the series, with characters being introduced at early points in the book, while the exploration of their hidden depths continues for a good deal further. I was especially interested in the balance between the belief and practice of voodoo and Catholicism, which so richly abounds and intertwines in Camille Faye's depiction of New Orleans. It isn't something I had considered before, or indeed was aware of, so this was particularly striking to me. The narrator captured each character perfectly, I thought, mastering their range of age, gender and accent with deceptive grace and ease. I would definitely recommend this.

Absorbing story, brilliant narration
