Like a secret world
Roger Deakin writes about swimming as if it were a magical act. The day after finishing the book, I found a river near me and swam in the February chill. It was, exactly as Roger predicted, exhilarating. Deakin’s writing has poetic brilliance hidden in it, and many of the pages which seem like personal notes to only himself are beautifully performed.

Fantastic, nostalgic watery adventures
I loved this book! Roger Deakin writes with such love for water in all its forms, from marshlands, canals, pools and the ocean to waterfalls, rivers, lakes and lochs. as an avid swimmer myself, I can relate to his enthusiasm for wild swimming, though I fail to go regularly and don't have his aptitude for the cold - yet. this has inspired me to make wild swimming a bigger part of my life and acclimatise my body to the cold waters. The actual performance of this audiobook was exceptional, with Roy McMillan doing a wonderful job of capturing Roger's zest for life and injecting the text with even more life.

wonderful.
After owning this book for years it was lovely to listen to the familiar text. I thought Roy McKellen was a great choice of narrator. I really enjoyed this wonderful book by Roger Deakin.
