Summary

In What Makes Us Healthy? best-selling author and internationally renowned speaker Caroline Myss delivers a thought-provoking live lecture on the current state of our health, exploring the mystical forces that create disease or wellness. Describing our evolving - and often misguided - relationship with well-being, Myss explains that to truly be healthy, we need a better understanding of ourselves and the factors that influence our lives.

She shows us that we must move away from the illusion that the physical world of money, sex, power, and self-esteem has more authority than the inner world of the psyche and soul. That it is, in fact, our ego that blocks our truth and creates imbalances that lead to illness.

Describing the language of transformation as a sophisticated spiritual journey, Myss shows that healing is an act of the soul: our mind governs our healing, but it is the soul that must lead the way. She teaches us that to truly heal, we must look at the energy of our lives and focus inward - toward the soul and away from the mind.

Here Be Dragons.

What disappointed you about What Makes Us Healthy??

I've listened to the first hour or so of this and, unless you like being hectored by a woman with a New York accent, I'd leave it be. This is less a book being read than someone free-flow ranting. What I heard was repetitive and shouty. I'm not looking for unicorns and rainbows but I think coherence is a must. Sorry, I won't be going back.

Would you ever listen to anything by Caroline Myss again?

I'm not sure. This certainly didn't inspire confidence.

The second worse audio book I have listenened to

I only listened to this book for about one hour and then I really had had enough. Sometimes she came across as an extreme right wing Republican and the in the next paragraph start taking about meditation and chakras, she seamed to be both pro and anti the Catholic church at the same time, and whilste she did come out with the occasional interesting comment or question, I really felt that she lacked credibility and orthenticity. I would have given this zero stars if I could.
