About this listen
After a confession of murder, a sleuthing English teacher will need a Christmas miracle to prove a condemned man innocent.
Colorful Christmas lights dapple the family homes in the idyllic lakeside town of Sweet Haven when Jennifer Dean, a young librarian at the local elementary school, is brutally murdered. There are witnesses and her boyfriend Travis Blake confesses to the crime...but something doesn't quite add up. Blake is a third generation Army Ranger, awarded the Silver Star for his heroism in Afghanistan - how could a beloved son of this tight-knit burgh commit such a grisly deed?
As a community of military families a few miles down the road from an Army base, no one in Sweet Haven wants to investigate a war hero like Blake, not even the top brass at the police department. In steps Cameron Winter, a rugged and lonesome English professor haunted by the ghosts of his own Christmas past, whose former lover asks him to prove Blake innocent. The Sweet Haven murder reverberates in his mind, echoing a horrific yuletide memory from his youth, and Winter knows there are darker powers at play here than a simple domestic dispute. If he can solve this small-town mystery, just maybe he can find peace from his inner demons as well.

Wholesome murder
Ok so I guess that’s a strange way to put it but, it’s a story full from f people who manage to do the right thing in the face of terrible circumstances. It was a grey story and although I had figured out the end before I arrived it was enjoyable to the conclusion. The narration was a little flat at times and the voices seemed to bleed between characters at times but overall this did not detract from the story. I will definitely try another of Andrew Klavan’s books in the future.

A modern "cozy murder"
Well-written and kept my attention right to the end. Akin to a modern-day Agatha Christie, though the plot-twist is not as tricky to guess. Despite being able to work out the ending in advance, the storyline still kept me fully engaged!

great twist
I though there where to many narratives in this story and found it a little difficult to follow whiles listening to it, perhaps a better one to read.
however as the story unfolded itbwas interesting and I found myself wanting to carry on, and the ending... was great!

Gripping, fresh and festive
I'm a sucker for a Christmas crime novel – and I'm usually disappointed. Not this year. When Christmas Comes is the audiobook equivalent of a page-turner. Clever, skilfully written, brimful of character and mystery, it is everything a crime novel should be. The Christmas setting plays a significant role in the plot but not to excess. I will be reading more of Andrew Klavan... Highly recommended.

A mediocre disappointment
Too many narratives, weak characters, a few highlights. Well written but crappy story. 😕 A decent read but I would not recommend this.
